Wow. FFVII's one of the few RPGs I've played all the way through (don't stone me, SB hive mind! I know the error of my ways now), and the discrepancies between the character styles was really annoying. That patch would fix it... _________________ last.fm

| Well, here's a quick overview (I'm sure someone like Simon Belmont, or gamefaqs for that matter, could go into a lot more depth). The combo attack system is there so you can have stronger characters share the xp from a kill with weaker characters, because repeatedly transmigrating and relevelling characters is the key to making them seriously buff. The lifting and throwing is mostly there to cheese your way through item world stages, and you can also use it for stuff like combining monsters to make them really high level to get lots of xp, again for purposes of powerlevelling. You'll eventually have characters gaining dozens or hundreds of levels from a single kill; it's a completely ridiculous and gimmicky concept, certainly, but there's a certain wankish appeal to it. |
Wow, this was really helpful. Thanks! I just picked up Disgaea 2 this weekend and was overwhelmed. _________________ last.fm

The Dreamcast, Gamecube and Dual Shock version of the PSX game have the Extreme Battle minigame, and the GC/DC versions play at a higher resolution. The N64 version has extra files spread throughout the game. I'd say go for either GC or DC. _________________ last.fm
