So! I am now engaged.
This means that I will move to Denton, TX, in May, where I will get married.
Is that an SB dead zone? What, exactly, am I looking at here in terms of SB density? _________________

If time and space have a more arbitrary relationship than they did when I last checked (which was last Tuesday), yes, it will count!
Unfortunately, after scouting Denton for a week, I came to the conclusion that Oklahoma no longer exists, physically, but has stealthily moved south in the form of rolling fog to consume north Texas in a manner similar to (but legally distinct from) Silent Hill.
So... uh... I don't know what to tell you about that. I guess buckle up? _________________

Yes, congratulations indeed.
That being said, I've only been in Texas for a few hours of my life, and I was very scared. Godspeed, good sir. |

You've got me in central Oklahoma and SuperWes and ShaperMC up further north in like Missouri I think. Rudie used to live in Texas. Pretty sure I can remember a least a couple other people saying they lived in the general area. Haircute and Intentionally Wrong still live in Kansas as far as I know.
Yeah not exactly high density. SB is very spread out in the prairie states. :/ _________________

| You've got me in Oklahoma as well. Texas is actually pretty great in certain places. I've always enjoyed Austin, but that may have more to do with SXSW. |

You wouldn't happen to be the poster formerly known as "rad" would you? I seem to remember someone by that name once saying they lived in Yukon. _________________

This is true in any airport nowadays.

Yeah, that's me. I lived in Yukon up until two or three years ago. I'm in OKC now, near the Paseo. Where is it you're at again? |

Congratulations! Marriage is R-A-D RAD.
Pezon, MrBusiness and dessgeega lived around that area at one point in time. I don't think any of them remain. I think MOAI~ lives there now? _________________

Man. I had no idea so many people lived in Oklahoma! I hope you weren't offended in my earlier post where I exposed the dark, tepid truth about your state (re: similar but legally distinct from Silent Hill as fog). Because, man, you guys.
Denton's a pretty awesome little city from what I've seen. (Best thing it's got going for it is my fiance, though.) _________________

Man I wish I lived in the art district. Place to be. Is there still a place called Sauced in that area? We've probably been to some of the same shows and not even known it. I live in El Reno with my parents right now. I was all set to move out a couple years ago but then I decided to go to school here at Redlands and realized how much easier it would be to just stay home for now. I'm about finished up with that however and am looking at other schools to go to so I can continue not thinking about getting a "real job" for right now. I've applied at OU but if they won't take me I'll either get a real job already or apply somewhere like OCU. I don't really know, college is kind of a lot of bullshit but it's all good and fun so whatever. So yeah if I end up doing any of that I will probably move somewhere closer to school. I would say we should hang out sometime but really I have know idea how our schedules would match up for that sort of thing.
Adilegian, don't worry about it. Oklahoma doesn't really exist for most Oklahomans either. Well okay maybe that's only true for the younger people but whatever. _________________

Texas sucks, but Denton is a really cool town. Sorta like a smaller Austin, really good music scene, generally cool vibe. I dig it, anyway. _________________

Man sitting in George Bush Airport, staring at a fox news store with fox news blasting through at least like 8 or 9 TVs and hearing this warning scared the living shit out of me. |

As a matter of fact, yeah. I'm actually not very far from Denton at the moment. That may or may not change in the very near future. |

All of y'all can just back off of Texas naow. I was born in and went to college in that state. I'm pretty sure I have family in Denton?
The problem with Texas is, really, it's fucking huge.
We'ren't you in Mississippi before. I have to ask why is your fiance in Denton? (I might have not read the thread thurourghly, you know drugs and sick over here.)
According to Wikipedia you're home to Bowling for Soup (big sad face) and Riverboat Gamblers (big thumbs up d^ ^b )

God I love the Fox News Store. It's the first place I go everytime I'm back in America and just past anal probing customs. I just lay on the ground laughing like a moron. Then I stop because, terrorism.
Also yeah, the first time I heard that don't make jokes comment was at the San Francisco airport. Though I think they play it more often in the Texas airports. |

Yeah, I've been to Sauced a few times, pretty good pizza and cheap drinks. I'm actually a couple miles away from the Paseo at the moment, but about to move to the other side of 23rd St. to a nicer neighborhood (mine is terrible). I know people at OU and OCU, both seem pretty good from what I hear; but I went to SWOSU, so pretty much anything is good in comparison to that... But yeah, If you're ever in OKC for a show or something, let me know. We could probably work something out. |

Yeah, the only time I've heard the joke warning was in Texas, and it just told me I needed to get the eff out of Houston, stat.
However, I've got nothing against the rest of Texas, as I've heard some good things about parts of it, but haven't really been to any of it myself. |

Denton, TX, USA is full of rednecks, hipster beard-o's, hipster lesbians and general college douchebaggery.
My roommate's dealer loves the area because of the lack of big city things available.
I like Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio for live music and their cheap beer and drink specials. Haley's is full of great but expensive beers and mostly awful, boring local folk/folk rock/psychedelic-folk snobs. They have an 80's Dance Night if you're into that.
You'll find a good handful of people in their mid 30's dicking around at local coffee/tea houses/pizza shop(s), many working (still!) in those places, 'cause they never got past their half-assed attempt at college but it's just a job to put money in their pockets because they're waiting for their big break in the art/music scene.
The art scene is all right. Obviously, you'll be inundated with the college kids' work along with some pretty nice established local artists. There was a local art house that served as both a gallery and a music venue. The Secret Headquarters it was called.
DO NOT give money to those fucking young dumb bums that hang out on Fry St. Not a cig not a dime. Tell them to fuck off loudly and aggressively so they understand the first time.
Fry St. is the bar scene in Denton. A tattoo shop here, a headshop there (not sure about the latter anymore). Lots of drunken assholes/bitches to be had. Police are on high alert most of the time when the drunks come out to play.
Other than that I know where to get great weed or if you're a dumbass, meth. |
