Wait so the cling ring prevents you from being invaded? No wonder I haven't seen an invasion yet.

Also, how can you get a halberd early in the game? or is it some class' starting gear?

Meanwhile, the Flamelurker and the Maneater(s) still slaughter me horribly.

I've nearly got a groove going alternating between meleeing the maneaters and controlling them with supression fire from firespray (as per the wiki's recommendation) but I still can't get a good strategy for the flamelurker.

I'm playing a Royal with shield + spear (currently a Knight's shield +1 and a quality winged spear +3) mostly a warrior-type with magic as support. Also the dragon sword form 3-1 as a secondary weapon. I have a heavy armor (the one set you find in 3-1) that doesn't let me do the fastest rolls. I don't know if I should sacrifice the armor's defense to get back my agility though.

I haven't rescued Blackmith Ed yet, but if I understand correctly, you have to give them the flamelurker's soul anyway to start forging special weapons, right?

Once you've played through the game normally and just want to experiment with character builds or whatever, remember there's an unpatched item dupe glitch in the game. Soul levels are not a problem.

Nor am I, but in the interest of using my finite time on this earth for interesting stuff rather than mindless grinding, I take the quick route sometimes.

Of course I reiterate that you should play the game normally at first, in any case.
