Hammerfight is great. And there's now a demo on Steam.

You may or may not be aware that a long-running thread on the tigsource forums for following games "in development" was turned into a site a few months ago. |

The hipster snark in The Wonderful End of the World wasn't the problem -- it was the half-assed way about which the company ripped Katamari off! Ten levels total, and once you're finished with them (and a few Steam Achievements) you're done. I enjoyed it, but it was kind of a crock, in retrospect.
Now, Aaaaa(x5)!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity is different! It's a nice change of pace from the type of indie game that aches to tell as story or to blow your mind with tonal shifts. The end result is a completely original work with a level structure that feels like an arcade game and a progression mechanism that makes it seem like there's always something new to do, or try. It's approachable in short bursts as well as huge chunks, and it has score mechanics that create replayability in a very satisfying way.
There's a demo! Check it out, if you dare! If you like it, the game itself is half-off until Thursday; I recommend it! _________________

| Captain Forever (mentioned earlier, but now free to the public) doesn't seem all that appealing at first glance, but here are two things the readme doesn't tell you: 1) You eventually encounter vividly luminescent neon enemies in many different colours, and 2) when you gather lots of lasers, they play music when they shoot. |

Days later, I find out I forgot to see the punchline: http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/clarity.zip
My default was "07," so this is pretty funny.
Play Dungeon, then play Clarity, but don't read about either or you'll get SpOiLeRs. |

I'm of the opinion that dungeon will be cited in dozens of future selectbutton topics as "that game that wasn't beatable for two-fifths of its players."

Everyone should play this. The paid version is really something, with a much wider range of modules. Best shooter on the PC.

I really hope you all played Theatrics, the latest game by increpare, because is one of the smartest indie games i've played lately. and if you haven't, do it now.
can someone explain to me how is it that jason rohrer makes something like passage and everybody is talking about him and he makes the new york fucking times while increpare is still virtually unknown? _________________

I played Theatrics up until the Oedipus Rex production, at which point I lost interest in untangling the Grow-esque plot event deployment sequence.
Actually, a Grow/Theatrics hybrid be pretty entertaining.
(Also, I attribute the majority of Passage's success to the music.) |

The next stage after Oedipus Rex is when it gets harder. Unlike the Grow games it has not completely arbitrary logical order. you have to think in terms of the story. in most games you have a story and solve the emerging situations, in this you have the situations and you have to solve the emerging story. _________________

I just played this through a few minutes ago. It's a good game.
Gretel and Hansel is another interesting one, though I didn't get all that far in it. I mean, I finished it but I'm pretty sure I got a bad ending and didn't see the whole game.

I see no one's mentioned Harmony, a zDoom game 8 years in the making.
Weapon selection could be less boring but man those are some huge levels to explore. _________________

I think the immediate problem with Continuity is that it actively stifles creative solutions to its own puzzles. Interesting back and forth with the music though.
edit: Just finished. One level was pretty interesting, the rest were extended puzzles I would say. Not a bad game if you've got an hour or two to spare. Finished it in three, but I suspect there are others who are considerably better at puzzles than me. That interesting level is deceptively simple. _________________
