I need a third option. I haven't been satisfied with a single handheld apple product yet. Great form factors and interface, shitty durability and shelf life. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

The touch is kind of neat and all, but it's way overpriced. I don't get why it's flash-based instead of hd-based (I'm guessing Apple will kill the classic next generation, though). There's no possibility of using it in your pocket, which is what I do about 90% of the time. And the nano is pretty cheap these days. I'd say it's a big win for the nano, personally.
Of course, this completely ignores the possibility that you want to play games/video on it. I don't watch video at all on my ipod, and have never played any of the games, so for me this is a non-factor. |

The touch is fairly awesome. I also hate how it is unusable in your pocket, but I bought the headphones with a remote so I can. _________________

The iPod Touch is like the Luigi to iPhone's Mario. Just as sleek and widescreen, with videos, games, web browsing over wifi, app store, and coverflow -- and yet still it's rarely talked about. _________________

I actually wish my nano was more usable in my pocket—there's no reliable way to blindly scroll to the shuffle songs item and i keep on hitting the what's playing now item. _________________ ( ( |

| I have a Nano. It is small and plays music. It is designed well to the point of being boring. |

Psiga, why would one buy a touch when they could get an Iphone for just about as much?
I'm in the anything but Apple, crowd. Besides kind of slow transfer speed, I love my IRiver Lplayer 2.0 |

Cause you don't have to pay 70 bucks a month for a touch, and you still get most of the best features.
I'm anti-apple too though. I had to go to the 5th Ave NYC store with my wife today and it made me a little nauseous. Lifestyles for sale! _________________

i have a second generation nano and it is hot shit. it has never crashed or otherwise fucked up on me and it syncs to foobar2000 with a plugin so i don't need fucking itunes installed, and i don't think the touch can do that (yet).
i have had this thing for like a year and a half and the battery is still going strong. and when it does eventually give up the ghost in, say another year, realistically the nano is cheap enough that yeah sure i'll buy a new one whatever. tbqh if this thing were to die now i'd still feel like i got my "money"'s "worth" because hell if i don't use it like every goddamn day.
i like apple's products a lot but their cult and especially their advertising both really bother me. like, the most computer-illiterate people i know are mac users and i think that's because apple's continued emphasis on how their platform is "SO EASY TO USE!!!" sort of discourages people from empowering themselves/learning anything about the way their computers work. consequently you get people who like FREAK the fuck out when they accidentally drag the iphoto icon off the dock because they think that they deleted it and that both iphoto the program and all the photos they've ever taken are gone forever. |
