i have a second generation nano and it is hot shit. it has never crashed or otherwise fucked up on me and it syncs to foobar2000 with a plugin so i don't need fucking itunes installed, and i don't think the touch can do that (yet).

i have had this thing for like a year and a half and the battery is still going strong. and when it does eventually give up the ghost in, say another year, realistically the nano is cheap enough that yeah sure i'll buy a new one whatever. tbqh if this thing were to die now i'd still feel like i got my "money"'s "worth" because hell if i don't use it like every goddamn day.

i like apple's products a lot but their cult and especially their advertising both really bother me. like, the most computer-illiterate people i know are mac users and i think that's because apple's continued emphasis on how their platform is "SO EASY TO USE!!!" sort of discourages people from empowering themselves/learning anything about the way their computers work. consequently you get people who like FREAK the fuck out when they accidentally drag the iphoto icon off the dock because they think that they deleted it and that both iphoto the program and all the photos they've ever taken are gone forever.
