Posted: Wed Feb 07, 2007 5:37 pm Post subject: Official KE3 EVENTS Thread |
|
|
Everyday at work (and home) I've been skimming the official KE3 thread to see the new developments but most of what is talked about is who is coming. There were quite a few good ideas in the previous threads but no solid events have been established yet.
Having prior experience with planning sizable events that are 1-2 days I can tell you that for everything to lock solidly into place you need about 3 or more months of good planning. Well, it is now less than three months away and the event is 5 DAYS LONG!!
After talking with Smartblue and getting his approval I am self-assigning the duty of Event Coordinator to help get the job done. I'm not here to steal the spotlight except for a title and instead am here to do the grunt work to pave the way for the magnificent event hosted by John, Joe, and Smartblue. I will answer to them and their decisions will be final on all matters. I will also be making press badges and event brochures for the event (and maybe even a grab bag of cool swag for each of the attending members).
Now, there are 3 stages that we need to go through to get events lined up into place. Brainstorming, Polling, and Time Scheduling. Brainstorming will be thinking up events that we would like to have and finding out what needs to be brought and who can bring what. Polling with be assessing the events that we will have lined up into place and voting which ones we want to see most and perhaps which days would be best for holding those events. Time Scheduling will be assigning those events to work with the days that we have alloted for events so that there are a broad spectrum of events taking place at different times to help keep the upbeat atmosphere. I'm sure there will be some timeslots that are marked SECRET to give John, Joe, and Smartblue time to have events that they would like to keep a surprise. In Time scheduling we will also have signups so that we can determine who would like to participate in what event to help block out the appropriate amount of time.
Now, on to the Brainstorming. I've reviewed the various threads and have determined that people would like to see the following at the event:
PS1 Demo kiosks as well as other Demo stations
Best Friends of the Century Tournament 2
DDR Tourney
Neo Geo Tourney (generic)
Neo Geo / other platforms KOF Tourney
Go out to see different Louisville sites.
Opening Ceremonies / Closing Ceremonies
Downtime for generic gaming
Partying
Video Viewing (of random things)
Go ahead and submit your ideas for what you would like to see at this event, what it will need, and what you can bring.
Thanks! |

OK, possible events I would like to see include:
Tattoo Assassins tournament (John Mc, pijai, alex, or I can fill anoyne in on this game if need be, though practicing for the tournament is strongly discouraged).
During the opening ceremonies, someone must play through sengoku. all of it. Co-op. It is OK if they cry.
Black, the game, accompanied by Andrew WK or something equally bombastic and wonderful. This is for stotelheim and me and anyone else. There is no multiplayer in Black. We will merely be appreciating the simple beauty of its wonderful violence.
A Return to colonel saunders. His curse on me has only done one thing so far, and that is made me lose my wallet. The motherfucker must pay.
OK, I like that list.
Shit I can bring:
My Xbox, just for playing Black on. Of course, a copy of Black will come with it. I only say this because the soundtrack for Black is very important.
As of current, I don't believe the treehouse has a 360, so I can bring mine and 2 controllers if needed, as well as whatever games I have around at the time. There will at least be table tennis. There is always table tennis.
I can haul 1984 down if we need a TV, though I don't think that should be a problem. He can still make an appearance if that is desired. He travels well.
Um...yeah, i think that is it. |

I say we do the DS pictochat thing again. That was quite fun and I never get to use pictochat so it was quite exciting!
I am not kidding about the jell-o wrestling either. |

if jello wrestling is possible, it would be quite the fulfilment of a near dream, though the actual dream is for an entire swimming pool full.
pictochat is always awesome. i think there should be more than enough DSes around, though i just got a lite so I can bring my old fatty if anyone needs it. |

| Jello is pretty cheap and you can probably buy it in mass quantities at Sam's club. We could atleast fill a sizeable kiddie pool with it. |

| Everyone should bring a DS if you own one. There are very creative things that we can do with Dicktochat. |

| Whenever my friends and I start pictochatting, invariably, somebody starts with the penises. It even happened when I was the only one with a DS and I was showing it to them, and they decided to pictochat to themselves. |

Man if you only hung out with us you'd know we already got both of those!
BFToTC [A] is full of secrets and mum is the word. That is, unless of course, you played in the last one and then you'd have an idea of the crazy things we do. I'll describe it some more later when I get together with John and figure some stuff out. _________________

Things I want to happen:
-metal wolf chaos
-ibara (I didn't notice if you said you still had it or not joe!)
-ANYTHING
I am down for whatever. I just want to get wild and tough.
Oh yeah! I might bring a board game called Zombies!!! wherein you play as people racing for the lone helicopter in a city infested with the undead. The main draw of this game is that you are all working against each other and there are various event cards that play up this aspect. _________________ Get Wild and Tough! |

Zombies is mostly fun for the end of a game when everyone starts being a total cockass to everyone else. it is kinda slow till then. |

Posting in this thread entirely to note that the trunk of my car currently arms six for impromptu Nerf Wars.
I'm still not sure if that's my greatest shame or entirely awesome. _________________

The brainstorming portion will soon end so get in your ideas! We'll have the polling and scheduling section soon. I'll officially close the brainstorming at the end of this sunday. |
