Why'd you have to go and make a new topic right after I posted in the other thread :( ? Anyway:
Big Scoop: Project Trico is actually a new Monster Rancher game, where you can have a wonderful adventure with any of the creatures from the series.
I'm sure Sony is really upset over this leak, as it's probably one of their biggest things for E3. I hope they have some more stuff to cover up for it. Then again, if it ends up being a (really elaborate and well-made) fake, I hope I see that creature somewhere else in the future. I like its eyes. |

Can someone please explain to me the rationale behind a civilization designing buildings that apparently are a mile high up the side of a cliff top with no guard rails or anything? _________________

Placeholder music. I don't know how PlayStation Lifestyle got it as they are absolutely nobody but this was used for an internal screening at Sony. Probably for some SCWW/SCEI summit of some sort. If it was an intentional leak, they'll show a current trailer (maybe the same trailer with everything in a more "complete" form) at E3. If it was unintentional, they may be scrambling to show something now. Or perhaps they'll show nothing at all.
All I know is this thing is goddamn awesome.

God, fuck, why? There's basically no one else in the industry that can make something in... Uedaland. If he's only making a couple games a decade, I don't see why you wouldn't want him to do exactly what everyone expects him to do. |

It's not unheard of to use movie music over an early game trailer - some of the Zelda games used the Conan theme, right?
Looks great - I wonder how dynamic and interesting they can make the griffin-like fellow there. Eventually I will have to buy a PS3 for this... I wonder how far along the game is? |

| that creature has the best character animation i've ever seen in a videogame ever. which isn't surprising because sotc had the best animation i'd ever seen in a videogame before that. |

it most definitely does not fit the visuals, in an awesome kind of way.
anyway! based on the last i heard from my insider contacts, this looks exactly like what the new fumito ueda team game sounds like! _________________

thoughts:
-I'm a little disappointed that this isn't as divergent from sotc as sotc was from ico, seeing as this is really just
-sotc + a boy and his blob (which is cool in its own right)
-on the other hand, a boy and his blob is so obscure and out of left field it probably makes up for the sotc similarities
-this is all assuming that you don't ever directly control the giant wolf-animal-thing
-wasn't there an colossus in sotc that you had to indirectly control by striking rocks on its head?
-sort of like the underground lake creature in mario 64? _________________

I hope that you have no control over Buddy and that he is smarter than you and very old and that he doesn't talk, and the entire game is him leading you to and through places that he has known for ages.
This is an inside hope I have for this videogame.
Or what if, dudes, what if, get this, what if you are Buddy and the little boy is the NPC? |

Looks more like a cross between a housecat and a hawk. Its behavior is very feline. The bird parts (nose, feathers, wings, talons) seem underdeveloped and I imagine they will become more prominent as it matures.
"kittenhawk"?

The friendly monster thing is going to fucking die at the end isn't it? It's going to get killed off by some knightly jackass on a horse, made up to look like a standard fantasy protagonist or whatever.
I hate this shit. Like when Neverending Story kid loses his horse in that swamp. I wasn't even controlling a little guy and forming a personal relationship with that horse. It's just a goddamn shitty thing is what it is. I can hardly wait to even think about preordering this thing. _________________

maybe it will find its parents?
but they will mistake the boy for a flea and crush him
then the King's army will arrive and slaughter them, but the kid will flap its wings for the first time and fly to safety with the boy's corpse |

Trico betting pool:
Boy dies: 2
Beast dies: 1
It would be interesting if the beast matured during the game. Then Ol' Yeller. |

i might try playing shadow of the collsauses again. i got up to the final one and quit because i thought it was dumb. it was great until that point though. apart from those two small monsters, those guys were boring
and i never got very far in ico which was like a more atmospheric and aesthetically beautiful zelda but with only one dungeon and no fun
i just keep that game because of the boxart and art cards. beautiful. |

Oh man I really wonder how this is going to play! For some reason I forgot I was watching a trailer for a game and only afterwards realized I had no idea what to expect from it as a game!
Both ICO and SoTC were great fun and greatly satisfied my exploratory side of gaming. I also really enjoy that half the stuff in these games goes unexplained or is atleast ambiguous. It just seems to make everything that you do and see carry more weight. As opposed to many games explaining absolutely everything to you, it allows you to sort of make your own experience. |

Its body language, especially on that shot where the boy's leaving it on a rock, is that of a young kitten so I suspect it's not old at all.

Interesting stuff!
Somehow they'll fit a princess into the mix & at the end you'll probably have to choose between her and the big cat-bird-thing...
Either they'll do this or Peter Molyneux will in a future Fable 2 DLC..
I'm bored of Ueda-land's limited palette. Then again i'm one of those oddities who didn't get along with Ico or Shadow of the Colossus (framerates were too horrible for me). |
