I don't know thin hair products, so I'm afraid I can't be any help. Sorry.
Do you blow-dry? This is the surest way to create volume.

Get a large round brush, like this one and pull your hair away from your head, drying from the root first. That should help a bunch. Don't dry your hair on your head, as that will make it flatter.
Be careful, as this round brush can also make for a Midwestern Mom effect.

Yes, it's very worth buying. The trick is to use VERY LITTLE of it, like ... pea-sized, rubbed through your hands, and then through your hair. It's really great for preventing split ends.
Their shampoo sucks, though.
And yes, Nakano wax is the best thing I've found for my hair in the last year. Now I just need to find a place that sells it here.

Actually, I have a pair of the glasses you describe. I will take a picture of these glasses the next time I'm at home! But finding them ... eh, that's the tricky part.
