I bought it.
I played it for about...fours hours that night and I think I kinda might actually like it. I've been breathlessly replaying FFVI for the 46th time but this actually made me NOT want to pick up FFVI. Well, not right now anyway.
I'm a sucker for cute anime girls. I will shamelessly admit this on these forums. I will play a half assed game to completion if it has even one character design I like-like. So, as such, I like this game.
It's nice to see magic attacks being taken in a different direction though. You're spellcaster actually really needs protecting AND you get cool powerups if you do so.
The only thing I don't like: the frequent pauses during battles. What the hell is up with that? Too much sprite action?
Also, why didn't they dub over the english voices in the movies? It's wierd to go from J to E like that. I might just switch over to english anyway.

It is basically by the numbers, yes.
You can "get to know" the girls (reyvetails they call them) in your party. You get to "dive" in to their subconcious and have sappy, cringe inducing conversations with them and afterwards they learn new spells because they love you so much. One of the girls knows the main character from somewhere but the guy doesn't remember her at all. But she still loves him!
I guess the main draw for this game is that spellcasters are complete pushovers.
Also: you can customize the HELL out of your weapons and such. There is also a supposedly extensive item creation system but since it's still early in the game all I've done is make a heal potion with the cute name of Healy C.
I like that. Healy C.
Oh, oh!
Also when you sleep in an inn or on a savespot one of the girls may or may not come up to your room and talk to you. Having conversations with the girls will bring you two closer together and allow you deeper access in to her mind. And! When you get further enough in to their conciousness's (sp?) they get bigger tits so that's a plus I guess.
edit again: I mean, the manifestation of their inner concious gets bigger tits. Although the girls in RL can get costume changes. Which do not give them bigger tits but make them more MOE I presume.

I have that part save filed to show my brother, who's been asking me what the game is about. The conversation I'm talking about is when you make the sleeping potion with.. I think Aurica in your party.

I'm at the 16 hour mark as of five minutes ago. One of those hours was spent idle so...
I think I really like this game I haven't even once thought about giving up on it and saying "why do i keep playing these fucking jRpgs?!"
I'm going to try to wrap this game up before Izuna and Crackdown come out next week. This will mark the first time I have ever beaten an RPG of any kind so quickly (I bought it last thursday).

| Yea, Rogue Galaxy was a triumph for me. Less than a week to 50 hours. I might try and play through one campaign of Romance XI over the next couple nights. |
