| My first import was Strider for the Genesis.. I just couldn't wait for the fucker to be released here, so I begged my mom to pay like a hundred bucks for it. Then the cart wouldn't fit into my Genny, so I had to crack the case open and just play the PCB.. which is a shame because that was just a lovely looking cart. (The box art just blew away the American version.) |

| Dudes, there was no reason to vandalize your systems nor your cartridges. The MD, SFC and N64 all had 3rd party adapters that you plugged into the cart socket, and then your games would sit on top of those. |
Yeah, but those cost money.
Never underestimate the lengths a ten year old with a limited allowance will go to. |
Precisely. Also, I didn't know HOW to mod the thing.. this was back before this whole cyberweb thing. I didn't even know I was going to need to do anything special to get it to play. Though I suppose I could've just called Die Hard or where ever we got it from and asked. But that would've delayed the Stridery goodness, and I just couldn't have that.
I fortunately didn't have to do anything quite this barbaric a few years down the line when I started getting Super Fami games. Just go in there with some plyers and yank on those tabs for awhile.. easy peasy. |
