Mine was the Evangelion game for the N64. I saw it sitting in the exhibit hall of Anime Expo in 1999 and knew that it had to be mine. I mean, Eva on an N64! What could they have possibly done? Everything before that was just dating sim-styled visual novels but here was an actual videogame with mecha battling action!
I ended up paying something like $120 for it including the adapter to play it on my US N64 since I was too afraid to mod it with a heated screwdriver or something. Still, one of the most frustratingly amusing games I've ever played, mostly because it tied so closely to the anime. My friends and I even practiced tapping our index and middle fingers in rhythm on the desks during classes to train for the absurdly hard C- and B button mashing necessary to break an AT field in Very Hard mode. Then there was the great and completely broken fun we had when a rumor on the Gamefaqs forum that said there was an incomplete 2 player versus mode hidden in the game turned out to be true. Man, those three swings from Eva Unit 0 with the Lance of Longinus meant instant death, breaking AT fields and being way too long to dodge with any Angel or Eva - that mode was so completely unbalanced, ridiculously slow, and just a whole lot of fun.
I think I only owned about 5 games for my N64, now that I think about it. :/ _________________
