|
|
I received my account info for it, after having three different email addresses send pretty much the same info way back in December. I doubt it increased my chances in the slightest; looking back at the invite from December, they just want as many computers accessing their servers for a month to measure the stress. Satisfied, they'll then dump it as a public release and it will be another MMO on the market!
Anyways, infos 'cause I'm not much for description: look at this lovely forum post by TOLL
Anybody else got this? Anybody else planning to try it out? |

so since I can't play it, who would like mine? You have to pretend to be me on there. |

I got an invite too, although it seems the servers won't be up for a few days yet unless they've come up in the past 5 hours or so when I last checked. Lookin' forward to seeing how grind-tastic it is! _________________

Hm... guess I'll wait for the open beta. This is pretty much the only MMO I've looked at since WoW. Wanna play it to see what it's like, and see if it bothers to fix any of the stuff that most other MMOs get wrong. This game, from my understanding, gives a bit more power to the player; hopefully this will create a trend where players can actually affect the in-game environment. _________________

| Yeah, I got into the closed beta too. Unfortunately, the client is going to take like a whole DAY to download. If I finally get it running I'll definitely be messing around with it, at least until I get bored and go back to WoW. |

| Torrents are 'loading slow as molasses and directdownload methods have been crapping out on me. It will be about a week before I have this thing all ready to be installed. |

These guys are pretty stupid for not just making one massive torrent with all of the files. Seriously, guys, why the hell would you make nine individual torrents? _________________

I got the email too. I'm guessing everyone who signed up got in this round?
I doubt I'll play it though. I'm too into wow right now. |

Okay, got through the tutorial section, got bored, then stopped playing. Back to WoW I go!
One positive thing about the game though, the characters are really quite pretty. |

well the game is certainly gorgeous looking. gameplay wise, it sort of comes off like a mix of Warcraft III and Diablo? it's more like an RTS, though, since you don't have to repeatedly click on enemies to attack them.
in general, i'm not entirely sure what this game might have that would keep me interested for an extended amount of time, but as of right now, its newness and pretty looks are keeping me around. |

Some of you actually managed to download the damn thing? I still can't get parts 5 and 6 of the .RAR file- there's no torrent download and the HTTP downloads keep stopping midway.
Is this game worth all the effort it's taking to download it? |

Almost certainly not; it's a Korean MMO, if one that seems slightly less immedietly awful than many others. By the way, you really should have something like Getright on your system; it makes troublesome downloads no problem (hello, resume function!). _________________

Yeah I should've used LeechGet, but I foolishly thought Firefox could handle the download. Oh well. At least it's free.
We need more gameplay impressions in this thread! How does the multi-character thing work out when you're partying with other players? |

First impressions is that the graphics tend to remind me of Final Fantasy XII, even though I've only watched somebody play that game for a day. I've cranked down the settings at the start because I know my laptop has enough trouble trying to run in the first place; it probably choke on high textures or some of the fancier options turned on.
I have to say, female Elementalist is completely busty, to the point where I'm disgusted and refused to ever create one of them. |

I'm under the name Barklight. It's my alternate name set (along with first name Alef) whenever I don't want to go under GrimmSweeper or one of its derivatives. I was planning to try out as the Schitt family, with such names as Awe and Noe to populate my barracks, but the initial warning of "Yeah, please don't use derogatory names or else" kept me from following that thread of thought.
Not to mention I was attempting to put in Cassandra for a female Knight and it didn't like it because of 'ass'. So she's Casyndra instead. *shrugs*
The levelling is unobtrusive, so far. I kind of don't pay attention to it, so when I glance down at my character stats, it surprises me that I've already gained 3 levels just jogging around slaughtering the beasties. I've yet to increment any of my stance skills 'cause only one of them is open. I'd like to see some variety first before signing my character's life away on some possibly meaningless track that will conclude with their deletion.
Fighting can be made absolutely automatic. There are certain commands that can set your team running towards a spot, hacking and slashing their way through mobs as they make their way there. Then have them jog back collecting all the items they dropped (not a whole lot of variety there) with another. There's also the possibility of setting them up to sit and attack any and every mob that comes within range. Theoretically, you could set them in a fairly dense pack, leave the computer to do something else for an hour and come back with a fair chunk of experience gained.
The AI is really good with automatic healing via the Scout, too. |

This is one of the better Korean MMOs I've tried, for sure, but it just has too many of the staple problems of these games. The character models are nice, but there's no customization of appearance unless you grind for tons of money/levels to wear specific outfits you can buy. The areas are forgettable and poorly textured. The interface is unresponsive, confusing, and doesn't work the way one would expect it to work often. Dialogue for quests is absolutely terribly written and translated while still remaining conprehendible. The gameplay is completely unexplained beyond "click to move, click to attack, have fun." A more capable developer could probably do something with this concept, but as it is, it's just kind of "eh." _________________
