You realize that producer != director, right?
Producers really aren't anything to worry about, since they just endorse the idea of the movie and provide the money. Producers only become a problem when they start withholding money to get their own ideas put into the movie (see: that story about Kevin Smith's Superman movie and the producer who wanted the giant robot spider which eventually ended up in Wild, Wild West). |

This will shock and destroy you, but Blackheart appears in that trailer. As a tiny man. Not a demi-god who fires lightning and shouts, "BLACKHEART REIGNS!" (or whatever he says). |

Producers sometime rewrite the scripts (not necessarily for the worse - the Alien producers added the android to the original script). Some, like Jerry Bruckheimer and Luc Besson, are clearly THE person on the movie and the directors are basically their assistants.
It's nice that Kojima is the executive producer, though from what I understand executive producers are only involved with the project at the beginning, picking out screenplays and directors. They're not on the set day to day like the producer. |

Guys, I just realized that the one person most likely to write the screenplay for a Metal Gear movie is David Hayter.
Things are looking up, maybe! _________________

Hey, guys, I'm probably going to see Ghost Rider because it most likely had a big enough budget to be awesome, but you know, not actually good. _________________

Ghost Rider doesn't look very good, but yeah, I'm oddly compelled to go see it anyway. I don't know what it is about it, but yeah. _________________

I hope it's as out there and stupid as possible. the only way they can truly ruin it is by just shooting the most mundane and dumbed down thing possible (silent hill) _________________

It's said that he will appear in his classic devil fashion, also.
I'd really like the MG Movie to tell the story of the first game. Imagine an audience that never heard of the series having to swallow the genoma soldiers thing, experimental twin clones, etc. |

If anything, MGS3 has the most compelling plot. Of course, this is mostly because it's a videogame, and wouldn't make the jump to film that well.
We're just gonna see more dreck like Silent Hill and House of the Dead. Why expect anything different? |

Well, the worst we'll get out of this movie are villians like some obese bomber who wears rollerskates all the time, some really old guy who's practically dead when he isn't sniping, and an aging revolver slingin' Russian who happens to have the arm of another enemy grafted on(the original owner's soul came with it too!).
The MGS series is entertaining as a set of games, but I don't know if I could sit through 2 some odd hours of non-interactive MGS-age. |

Man Silent Hill was pretty good okay it just had a shitty ending.
And too much shouting.
And too much husband.
But still!
It was pretty good given how bad it could've been. _________________

| the only way this can work as a film is if they make it as weird and surreal as possible. that might be the most accurate way to capture the feel of the original game. the idea that it's being called a "futuristic spy thriller" already seems to indicate that this won't be the case, though. |

it's funny how Hollywood Reporter keeps calling it simply "Metal" in the full article
only 200,000 comic books?!
and that Ghost Rider trailer kinda makes me want to watch it...! I've never even heard of this character before. |

that was the first thing I thought about. Well, after I was like "hot damn did Kojima put on a shitload of weight and grow a goatee?" Then I thought it was a picture of the producer, but that didn't make sense either. Then I noticed the filename, and then I went and did something else. |

You know, I don't see any reason why Satoshi Kojima can't executive produce this movie, Snake foregoing stealth and just lariating the hell out of random genetically altered soldiers sounds like a good idea to me. _________________ http://www.audioatrocities.com/games/castlevania-sotn/clip1.mp3 |

The Silent Hill movie was tragic because the director managed to nail everything perfectly, yet the writer, the guy who constantly talked on the internet about how much he loved the games, took the whole movie in the wrong direction. It should've just retold SH2.
I wonder what Ebert's going to say about the Metal Gear movie. |

Ahaha oh okay Satoshi Kojima.
Man for a minute there I thought Kojima was in a Joe Shishido phase or something. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

This is correct. The further I get away from it, the more I appreciate it. For about a half hour there, it was almost perfect. That's pretty good. |
