Producers really aren't anything to worry about, since they just endorse the idea of the movie and provide the money. Producers only become a problem when they start withholding money to get their own ideas put into the movie (see: that story about Kevin Smith's Superman movie and the producer who wanted the giant robot spider which eventually ended up in Wild, Wild West). |
Producers sometime rewrite the scripts (not necessarily for the worse - the Alien producers added the android to the original script). Some, like Jerry Bruckheimer and Luc Besson, are clearly THE person on the movie and the directors are basically their assistants.
It's nice that Kojima is the executive producer, though from what I understand executive producers are only involved with the project at the beginning, picking out screenplays and directors. They're not on the set day to day like the producer. |
