man, if they don't recoup on these versions, how come they don't just port it up to xbla/psn? it wouldn't lose anything the ps2/psp versions didn't, and i imagine it'd be much easier to do a decent job of porting the engine. they wouldn't have to worry about standing out on the shelves and i'm sure they'd find a more receptive audience than the twelve people who are still looking for new ps2 games.

The VA creepiness was all in delivery. That does look remarkably better than the youtube video I watched

The animation in that cutscene really reminds me of Xavier:Renegade Angel.

That screenshot looks significantly better than the video! I can't decide if outside of widescreen, it looks better than Silent Hill 2-4.

There are apparently quite a few differences between the versions actually:

Like stuff actually being missing different. I mean look at 0:30!

And I really like the song here. Is it the main theme of the game or something?

Each of the Silent Hill games seems to have a few of these vocal songs that aren't actually played during the game. Maybe this one was, but I don't remember hearing it. The song is called "When You're Gone," incidentally. Also incidentally, there's one from Silent Hill 4 called "Your Rain" that I really like.

Another song from the Shattered Memories soundtrack that's definitely worth hearing is "Always on My Mind." It's featured briefly in the game, but the full version is quite different and better. (I'd imagine that most people are familiar with some version of this song, whether the Elvis Presley version, the Pet Shop Boys version, or another one.)
