Like, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter for instance.
The first time you play the game, it might take you as long as 15 hours to finish. It will be dense and confusing, but you can play it a second time, and find new treasures within it. The game's mechanics suddenly begin to unravel before you, and you're getting to the point where you can finish the entire game in a few hours. You start scoring higher, and all of the sudden new options are opened up to you. Your better performence has given you more tools, and you rocket to the peak of the game.
A great sense of satisfaction permeates you, and you place the game back in it's case with a full heart.
Perhaps one day later, you would pick up the game again, and strive to challenge yourself, is it really impossible to achieve 1/4 with just one play?
Or Dead Rising. The first time you play, certainly, you are going to die. Maybe even very quickly. But even though you died, it seems like you learned something important about the game. A new little secret to help you along. Not just that either, your character has grown stronger, more resourceful. Once again, a game is unraveling in your hands, offering up new treasures as you delve deeper, as your score gets higher, as you learn how to use that sledgehammer just right and memorize the timing of events and patterns of the bosses. You can play, and replay, until you are honed to a perfect mastery over the game, and all it's secrets and magic lies at your fingertips, waiting to be enjoyed. New game modes gradually open up to test your newfound skill, and invigorate your blood.
It is pretty awesome.
Are there any other really cool games like this?
Preferably with a score of some sort.
Actually now that I think about it Capcom has been pretty awesome. |

| At first I thought the title was a quote from when Alucard talks to the librarian in Symphony of the Night. |
It was.
Edit: We totally have some tender feelings for SOTN's dialogue around here.
We tend to get "Perhaps the same could be said of all _______." the most though. It seems to be the most easily applied quote. |

I like the part where Bosch's arm tears his own heart out or whatever.
That was pretty rad.
Also Nina isn't a living weapon, Ryu becomes one though.
Nina is a living air filter.
Edit: Also the best part of Dragon Quarter is the music. In fact, I don't care if you hate the game jeff, but you should have a listen to the soundtrack anyway.
Probably Sakimoto's best work there. |

Wha?
BoF3 is a completely mundane jRPG, with pretty much 0 distinguishing characteristics.
So I guess if you want to play the same game that's been made like 59 times, I guess it's fantastic.
But I guess I still like Wild Arms, which isn't much better. |

| Yep, Ryu basically lives in a world where he has no reason to live. The theme of the game is desperation. |

Well, I recommend going on galbadia hotel and grabbing Electric Power Building at least.
My favorite out of the music there.
Really if you find Sakamoto forgettable or just don't like him in the first place the soundtrack won't really shine to you.
Except for Ranger Base and EPB which are very different from his usual fare. |

Oh I like the Tracks from Dragon Quarter mainly cuz they feel so nostalgic for me.
I have no idea where that nostalgia stems from, but it's like some bizarre clean memory of staring up at the summer sky.
That's only Electric Power Building though, which is really the only track I ever like to listen to these days.
Reminds me a bit of Armored Core actually. Maybe that has something to do with it. I remember the first time I played the original armored core on a demo CD being a pretty good feeling time, in contrast to the rest of my life at that age. |
