Aw man, I hope you keep posting, 'cause I'd really like to hear what the gaming scene is like in Finland. Oh shit, I'd like to know what the magazines are like there too! I don't know why I never ask any of the other international posters what their country's take on the medium is. I guess because they never mention their nationality outright; it just becomes apparent. _________________ "Godzilla could be anyone."

Hey guys, so I've been lurking these forums for about the entirety of Summer (and helping myself to your podcasts) and I finally decided to register today.
Ok, that's a lie. I forgot the name I registered with had an exclamation mark at the end of it so I spent the last few weeks attempting to sign in with the wrong username. _________________

Your name has a distressing lack of vowels. For this reason, I shall call you brickroad! until you come up with a better alternative. _________________

brickroad! is perfect, actually.
But if you ever get tired of typing out all those vowels, there's always the provided alternative. _________________

Actually I'm not gonna call you brickroad! because I know a guy on another forum whose screenname is brickroad and I'd end up being all confused. Especially since you clearly took the name from Earthbound and he didn't.
Man I hate people who "accidentally" have names from Earthbound. I mean, there's a guy I know on another forum who's called Starman. He claims that name comes from his love of Star Trek (or Wars or Gate or whatever). Clearly something is wrong with him.
...so yeah. Welcome here. What kind of games do you like? _________________

Well I'm playing Starcraft 2 and Super Street Fighter 4 right now. Man, I love SSF4. I play Bison (Dictator). Adon and Rose as alternates.
I also recently picked up Minecraft and really enjoy it.
I have an unhealthy obsession with the Mother games and have logged at least 400+ hours of Demon's Souls.
But I'm really not picky.
Maybe the dude in question is referencing David Bowie's song? If not, then he accidentally chose a pretty great user name. _________________

| Hello! I've been lurking for a long time. A few years ago, I was a frequenter on The Gamer's Quarter forums as "therumblefish77". I like video games, most of the time. Cinema and Literature are pretty much my bread and butter. That's all there is, not much else. This has been terribly awkward, really. |

Hey, all! My name is Matt, and I'm one of those crazies who graduate from film school and decide to try to live the dream in Los Angeles.
I heard about selectbutton through bza... he convinced me to join!
I'm partial to games that run on either PS3 or OS X, as that's what I've got... I'm DriftBanana on PSN, so hit me up! |

I don't, but I've been told that I should by some (and that shouldn't by others)... I've got a slew of interwebmultiplayer games that I dabble in, but the only fps of the bunch is Borderlands. |

What ho! I'm a bit of a UK retro-gaming pseud, with but a PS2 and a graphics card of similar vintage for gaming. Apart from that I'm a pretty OK guy. Been listening to the podcast since the third episode or so and signed up to the forums because I had something desperately urgent to add to an Abe's Oddysee thread. By the time I received my confirmation email I'd actually read the rest of the topic, found my point superfluous, worked my frustrations out via street-fighting and moved on to something else equally urgent. I do still think that the device of placing the game in flashback, implicitly casting all failures as false recollections is inspired.
I get slightly curmudgeonly about the culture's rewriting of all Eighties gaming everywhere as an exclusively Americo-Japanese led console experience, Supermarionation if you will, but recognise that the previous parochial narrative of "all the nerdy kids in the playground played Jet Set Willy on their Spectrum" is no less false. This recent webcomic and its brief accompanying post make my point a million times better than I could though.
Otherwise, I love how ubiquitous emulation has made it possible to play bizarro (con)versions of favourite games, I read Penny Arcade for the articles and I'm trying real hard to be the max-level shepherd. |

hi indiehipster can you recommend me some good art or indie games? i have had this feeling that the messages in the games i am playing are not really "profound" enough. what games do you know that are really meaningful, like as meaningful as the movie "inception?" _________________ The text will not live forever. I'm TXTSWORD, I also go by that alias on theTLDR.com, a forum I frequent and admin. (No, it's not some idiotic 4chan clone forum)
I'm probably difficult to get along with because the majority of things I want to post about will be rage fueled rants of hate for things video game related. My opinions probably will be dissimilar to most people's. However I would really like to make an effort to be a valuable member of this board, respect your rules, and talk about some GD VGAMES! |

Hello, I am sewshi. When I am not busy idling in #selectbutton, I am usually making sure starman is well fed with laughter and learning. The only game I seem to be playing constantly right now is Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (0.70) and it is balls hard.
I am currently a professional unemployed human about to go back to school here in San Francisco. I also love burritos. When I am not eating burritos or sleeping, I am most likely trying to draw or mess around with Ableton Live 8. My website sucks, do not go to it. _________________ What strength, but don't forget there are many guys like you all over the world! |

Hello, I'm TV's Adam. A small portion of you may know me as a fellow member of Project! Fuckin American Lasers, a marvelous Steam group I co-founded with internisus and Botagel and one other guy. I have had a selectbutton account for three years and this is my first post. I lurk here occasionally. I like it when you all say things.
I am an editor for a trade magazine and I live in Pennsylvania. I probably like most of the games you like along with most of the games you don't. I play guitar, but not as much as I used to. There are less potentially interesting things for me to say about myself than I had assumed.
I am proud to know you. You're doing great work, champ. _________________ Day three of my cardigan: My funk overwhelms me. |
