i finished curse of darkness this morning, and then proceeded to play through castlevanias 1-4. i emulated, and save stated, but didn't cheat (never during bosses or halfway through normal level demarcations). i'd never finished 1 or 3 before. i feel like a REAL MAN.
fucking konami week!
tomorrow i am going to play thorough bloodlines and FINALLY play rondo of blood. so maybe this will be the other, less interesting, castlevania thread!
also, i took a bunch of screenshots from II of the inexplicable localization. i will try to get them up tomorrow! |

Goodness John, you are really charging through those games. I mean you were still on Lament on Saturday. Good going. _________________ {I'll Fill This In Later} |

The scary part is that the localization is actually mostly faithful! |

Hey John, I finally finished Dawn of Sorrow (after sitting on a 90% completed cart for over two months). I think I'll attempt Julius Mode when I'm good and ready though. _________________ {I'll Fill This In Later} |

After I found Castlevania Chronicles kinda crash prone when running on a PSP, I bought CV4 on the Virtual Console. It seems to have a steep difficulty curve from stage four or so and I gave up at 7 or 8. Do I just suck? I can clear Rondo with little effort, but this is breaking my balls with tons of platform malarky.
The music is damn nice though, a bit of a change from the usual CV fare. |

ok! finished bloodlines and rondo today. the latter was a lot of fun; the former, not so much.
also, blackula. o_O
i am now giving the saturn symphony of the night a run. there are doors where there shouldn't be doors! i leveled ten times in one room! if the port wasn't rather poor, this would be a great version! |

also, this is understandable. most people hate the first castle (stage 4). it's just a stage full of tricks, is all. the next few are rather straightforward. |

I can get to Dracula pretty regularly but never beaten him. When he changes to his second form I scream this is bullshit and shut off the console. _________________ My Hawt Blog Vita Games

You were playing as Eric for bloodlines, right? Because if not you need to re-play it.
And, yeah in France (blood fountain level) is where I get my ass handed to me in Bloodlines. I can make it up to there without dieing usually. _________________

| I'm having a ton of fun with Castlevania 4. I'm playing it on the Virtual Console with a Gamecube a controller. One problem, though: the controls seem to be mapped in such a way that I can't use the whip and jump at the same time. Is that true to the original, or not at all? |

| In the SNES original, Y whipped and B jumped. The same as throwing fireballs in Mario world. The R button also threw weapons. |
