This guy:
thinks that recruiters have no place in a high school campus. These are kids, hardly in a position to make such a life-changing decision. You're goddamned right they're easily influenced, and that's why recruiters are there. That's just low. Those who want to join up will find their own way to the recruiting station. I did.
^^Got no problem with ROTC. It's for those who want to be there. Not to mention, ROTC departments are usually staffed by soldiers who don't like recruiters for their own reasons. It's hard to explain. _________________ Steam/PSN/Xbawks: GcDiaz

Correct. JROTC is an extra-curricular activity. Real ROTC is a college elective, a four year (or less with prior service) program that will get you commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant after graduation.
Of course if you choose to enlist right after high school, I think JROTC credits will get you to Private First Class (E3) instead of just plain Private (E1).
Interesting how a whole college degree will only get you initial rank of Specialist/Corporal (E4), but you'll be on the fast track to Sergeant anyway (normally a 2+ year process) so I guess it evens out. _________________ Steam/PSN/Xbawks: GcDiaz

Yea, me neither. To me the military is more like a Rottweiler. A sentient being, whose behavior depends largely on how it was trained and what it has been taught. It's certainly capable of rational thought, of weighing pros versus cons, but where its master points, it goes. It all comes down to the "commander's intent".
You realize there are such things as lawful and unlawful orders, and that no soldier is expected to obey an unlawful one? Abu Graib was an unlawful situation; it only happened because the soldiers involved wanted it to. Besides, doing the right thing is HARD. _________________ Steam/PSN/Xbawks: GcDiaz
