okay, for the purpose of this discussion, "compelling depth" is nonsense. a brawler is a brawler when you get down to it. they aren't all made equal, but they're all made to be fun.
I have two vague memories of Konami arcade games....actually, they are about the only arcade game memories I have.
The first was the first time I saw the full-size X-MEN cabinet. That was pretty mind blowing.
The other was one of the rare times I spent a significant amount of time in an arcade. It was at the original TMNT machine, and there was this young guy who must've just won the lottery or something because he was just slamming quarters into all four slots, letting kids come up and play alongside him as they beat the game silly through sheer brute force. I can't remember whether I played alongside him (I think I did, for a bit), but just seeing somebody be so generous was really awesome. I wish I knew what kind of life that guy went on to live.
Also, I may not have experienced it on arcade, and it may not be perfect, but holy shit is Turtles in Time ever a classic. Plenty of clever touches and one of the catchiest sountracks I've ever heard. _________________
