Over in Japan, Playstation has a mascot of sorts. It's a white cat that wants badly to be human. Toro has been a mascot since Playstation 1 days. He stars in bizarre you say no to drugs, juicy j can't. Had a pocketstation game, and actually one was released a few weeks ago, Toro no morimori. I have no clue what that game, or any of the games are really about, outside of an internal wish to call them you say no to drugs, juicy j can't.

Since the day of the release of the Playstation 3 in Japan, there has been a daily show starring Toro and his malacious partner, a black cat named Kuro. They talk about just about everything, games, contests, pop culture, how to use your PS3, etc.

Mainichi Isshoo is the program that holds Toro Station. It's a PS Home like program, in which you can spend real money to dress up your crummy apartment and yard, buy clothes for your avatar that occasionally interacts with Toro, and go look at other people's avatars, yards, and apartments. There are also boring mini-games.

This is all free, and about a thousand times better than Home.

Toro Station has been running every day since the release of the PS3 and celebrated its 1000th episode on August 4th. Actually an accomplishment, since each episode has like 20 minutes of text, and that's if you can't read Japanese and are ferociously hitting the button to advance the text.

Yeah it's all text based, outside of music psychopaths murder people to and some sound effects.

Onto the final episode! I had a text prompt that only had one option, "Congratulations on 1000 episodes!" The cats were fucking ecstatic about that. Kuro and Toro then both gave a thank you speech on 1000 episodes. They thanked other animals from the Toro Universe, but never see in this, and myself.

Next they brought out Terebi-san, Toro's television. It's used to explain things with graphs, or to transport the cats into a video game. For this it was a letter from someone at SCE, congratulating them again. A girl, and sadly I couldn't read her name.

Next! A dude from Valkyria Chronicles! Homer Pieroni? Haven't played that game yet. And Eddie Nelson. followed by, Vocaloid girl? Miku! Huh, well pretty sure her PSP game is selling well then, or the Toro Station writers really like it. I have no clue how well VC did here, but I'm sure the PSP Vocaloid game sold very well.

Terebi-san was attacked, by the dudes from Yuusha no Kuse Ni Namaikida, or Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What did I do to deserve this!. They proceeded to drop frying pans on Kuro several times. Terebi-san came back, and introduces us to the guy from Yakuza kicking the shit out of a some dude talking shit about Toro Station.

This is getting pretty long! Well, about as long as a normal episode. As you can see not a lot really happens. Next up though, is The King of All Cosmos. The cats ask for a present, and the King asks why they would ask him for a present.

Next the Idolmaster. Kuro is going fucking bonkers over this. He calls the idols "FANTASUTIKKU!"

Fumito Ueda gives his appreciation. He says, he's sorry he's taken a day off before, but strives to be like the cats and work everyday.

Simon Belmont alert: Nippon Ichi. That loli devil girl from Disgaea 2? She presents a letter from Nippon Ichi Prinnies. She also says she can't wait for there to be 1000 Disgaeas. Then a joke about numbers going up.

That ends the video game guests. The next is Kutatan from SCE? He gave my account 100 miles, which are used for...something.

The final act has my on screen avatar, complete in shirt and pants, come on stage, while frankly bizarre music plays.

I could never read any of it, but I loved just watching the cats do stuff. It was entertaining seeing what game character they were talking to and trying to figure out what was going on. It stopped working for me a while ago though, so I've haven't been able to watch it since.

Is this really the last episode? Why are they stopping?

Thank you for explaining this. I downloaded it, watched a bit, got a trophy, but ultimately had no idea what I was doing with it. I didn't realise there were daily episodes... I kinda wish there was something cool like, in English, for Western PS3 owners.

Also, isn't there a news station now, with some purple haired chick from neon-genesis evangelion? I downloaded that too, had no idea what was going on, and then stopped using it.

Valkyria Chronicles sold pretty well in Japan, Rudie. It's the 15th highest selling game for the PS3 according to vgchartz. Meanwhile Yakuza 3 is 3rd.

Not that these numbers mean anything really.

I had no idea Persona!

So yeah, this program is pretty much what they wanted to do with Home I think, and it's been here since day one.

Fun fact: It takes place in Tokyo, so the weather reflects the weather outside.

Rhapsody, too!

I will definitely watch this when I get a chance. I knew I had Mainichi Issho (Everyday together!) for a reason. Desperately wish we had something that cool.
