Man, despite advances in technology, Silent Hill 2 will never ever look bad. It still amazes me. Chalk it up to spot-on art direction and the brilliant shadows, I guess. I think it really is my favourite game of all time—at the very least, my favourite-looking game of all time.
Those are great images, very inspiring. I think I may have to play some SH2 or something for FKW as well. I wish Restless Dreams worked on the 360, though....
As for the creepy whispering: I only heard it on my second playthrough, and it scared the shit out of me. My friend heard it his first time around, and he was alone in his apartment, in the dark, wearing headphones. He said he ripped them off his head and looked behind him, only to realize it was the game.
I mean, seriously. There has never been another horror game as good as this, period.

Oh man, is there any way there can be a Zip made of all these lovely images?
Apartment hallway with my cell phone. I was going to do something Silent Hill-esque, but I don't think I have to! Creepy!

Yeah, the thing is, I live in quite a nice apartment, but my phone's camera must come from the Otherworld, because it saw the hallway has a disturbing shit-hole.
This thread needs to be stickied and archived. Even though I have a very thorough VHS recording of a playthrough of SH2 (actually, the first three games!), with almost all the endings, this has made me want to pick up the controller again and play the actual game, just to snoop around where you've snooped around.
Dammit why can't Restless Dreams work on the 360? I don't remember what, if any, lighting improvements were made to this version of the game, and I want to find out.

Oh lordy!
Is there anyway for you to rip this onto your computer and host a torrent? I would totally love to have something like this for viewing! Maybe with some cheap narration for the "comedy" ending playthroughs spliced in? |
I don't have any capture card or anything, but I'll look into what I can do. A local place wants to charge something like $20 per tape to convert my VHS tapes into DVD. That's a bit much, considering I have 4 1/2 tapes of Silent Hill recorded. I only have one tape for SH2, though (I recorded it in SOOOOOOOPER LOOOOOOONG PLAAAAAAAAAY).
If I can get it onto DVD, I'd gladly mail out a copy or three.
Toups: Fuck shit dammit! I need to see a screenshot comparison of this. Come on, Microsoft, make that shit backwards compatible! I remember playing my Japanese copy of SH4 and then quickly switching to the Xbox demo version; it was noticeably sharper, and slightly higher resolution, too.
And to think I had SH2: Restless Dreams, too (my friend sold it to me for a dollar) and I never played past the Maria scenario.

Hmmm, maybe. I'd need to know if I could use it on my Mac, and if there was appropriate video-capture software.
