NO LIMITS
NO END TO AMBITIONS
BARE YOUR WORLD OF HEART

...

Okay. If you hung around insert credit for a while, you probably saw me make more than a couple threads along these same lines. What I'm asking is, in a way that hopefully isn't quite as clumsy as the last thread I made, is for everyone here to go ahead and post your quietest or craziest ideas for games based on Konami licenses, or using particular Konami developer teams (for any game they've made, past or present), rambling on as much as you like, giving us every single messy detail about what you'd create if you were the head honcho of Konami.

Here are a couple topics from the insert credit forum archives to set the tone/give you some ideas:
Fresh Castlevania Ideas
stammering, babbling games idea topic

I want you guys to throw all inhibitions to the winds as you tell me the games you dream of, that you deeply desire. Let's fill this topic up with paragraphs of fantastic scenarios and crazy proposals. If you read this topic and don't post something then I will know you don't love me anymore, you don't love at all, you're a monster. You don't feel a game.

Anyways.

Post your ideas.

I'll post mine!

---------

The first idea I'm going to post is Black Jack Solid
(or Metal Gear Black Jack or whatever)

I think I originally had this idea after looking at early Metal Gear Solid 3 screenshots for a while. It was kind of freaky when I learned that MGS3 would have the whole "curing yourself" sub-gameplay system....and that Akio Ohtsuka is the Japanese voice of both Black Jack and Solid Snake (and Solidus, and Naked). So I'm convinced that this game is, in part, destined to happen.

Oh yeah, if you don't know what I'm talking about, read the Wikipedia article on the Black Jack I'm talking about. And hunt down some of the manga if you can, it's pretty awesome.

Anyway, the basic premise is this: Black Jack is traveling through a South American country (or anywhere there would be something approaching a mild raiinforest), minding his own business, when he is detained by a group of armed locals who force him to come with them to their nearby village. Once there, he is quickly shown why he was abducted: most of the villagers are suffering from a new, unpredictable disease that is showing a confusingly large variety of symptoms and afflictions.

Motivated more by curiousity than by intimidation, Black Jack begins to try and help the sickest of the afflicted. He's beginning to make progress when the village is suddenly raided by an unknown paramilitary organization which locks down the village and begins to move the healthiest inhabitants to a mysterious military fort nearby, supposedly abandoned for decades. Black Jack is then split between evading the soldiers, trying to cure the sick and finding out what the hell is going on.

It's not exactly the most clever of setups, but it paves the way for a mix of MGS-style sneaking, light physical combat (since you're trying to avoid killing people) and various medical sub-games that would be a bit more realistic than simply selecting what you want to use to cure someone.

One of the major gameplay systems I planned when I first conceived this game, and one that isn't quite as clever in the wake of Half-life 2, was a unique item interactino system that I unfortunately don't have a clever name for. Basically, you could "freeze" the game at any moment (or maybe slow motion, but that's too cliche), and then a cursor would appear on screen. You could then direct this cursor to objects of nearby interest and select different actions to use on them, and when you unfreeze, Black Jack would attempt to interact with the select object in the way you specified (although circumstances might prevent that).

My example scenario was Black Jack in a makeshift lab, with an open doorway leading into another room with a guarding soldier. While you might just normally go up a table full of beakers and such, then press a button to examine it (and look for useful items), you freeze the game once to grab one of the beakers, then freeze it again to direct where to throw it. Then, as the soldier is alerted and comes to investigate the noise, you might direct freeze the game again to direct Black Jack to a wall near the doorway, allowing him to properly ambush the soldier. Of course, ambush usually wouldn't be the only way around the soldier - there would probably be another entrance to the guarded room which you could use to slip into it while the guard is investigating the broken beaker.

There would be a focus on making the item interaction system as fast and painless as possible, allowing for the player to simulate some of the control of one's environment that an actual human being experiences.

Naturally, the game would use a modified version of one of the MGS engines - I'm not quite sure whether that would be MGS3 or MGS4, since I'm kind of stuck in the past. Of course, the game would be at least partially developed by the teams who have worked on previous MGS games, and I might even call in Kojima if I wanted some crazy plot twists or new gameplay subsystems.

CASTLEVANIA: ORIGIN OF SORROW

Starts basic 2D - Lisa has just been burnt, and YOU ARE DRACULA. Seperated from Alucard, the first level sees your weakened (somehow) ass being chased through a village by angry pesants. At the end of the level you're grabbed by Chaos, who offers you revenge in exchange for spreading misery. It then forms a ruined castle.

The castle is pretty empty at first, but you're guided by Chaos' voice. Monsters from outside (you're in the Chaotic Realm) break in, and you have to clear a path inside (the castle is sparse) until you reach your first portal.

Chaos is weak, and he needs you to strengthen him. Basically, Drac warps around the world, heaven and hell doing missions in the name of chaos, subjugating lesser demons and adding them to his ranks. He recruits the first Devil Forge masters, etc.

Soon you can add to the castle - there are preset room templates, but you can snap them together like Legos, being required to build certain classic areas. Drac has the same powers as soma but welds them differently - he adds enemy souls to these rooms to better defend them. The more fearsome your Castle, the stronger Drac's inate abilities. The overworld missions would branch in and out of each other, like quackshot.

Soon you've freed Death from his imprisonment by a bunch of masons, had your big falling out with Alucard, etc. Filled in the gaps. Your castle is cranking out spells and weapons for you, and you're ready to ascend to the throne and merge with Chaos to become the Lord of Darkness... when a HUGE demon attempts to usurp your new castle. You beat him, ascend to the throne, and warp to the mortal realm.

The bonus mode sees you playing as a generic vampire hunter fighting through the castle you just built.

This is a great idea.

But IGA wouldn't make this game because it might conflicts with his origin story for Dracula found in Lament of Innocence. He'd have to make two shitty games afterwards just to explain all the questions it created! If you even asked him to do it he would get mad at you for ignoring the most important part of his Castlevania games, the wonderful, wonderful story.

shit, you would post this just a scant few months after I finally broke down and threw away my awesome plan for Castlevania V (yes, I wrote it before SotN) that I wrote up when I was so very very young and full of dreams and ambition.

In it you played a modern-day female (OMG!) Belmont. Dracula's castle appears in the middle of City, the ghosts of former Belmont's tell you of your forgotten lineage (and test your might) and then you fight through the city for a while (including a subway).

THEN...

before going to Dracula's castle, you fight through a set of worlds in any order (a'la Megaman's robot masters), each based off of one of your alternate weapons (knife, holy water, boomerang, axe, watch). Beating each of these worlds gives you the power of that world's weapon, allowing you -- at the highest level -- to turn your whip into something else (like a sword via the knife power, or a halberd via the axe power) each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses.

After that, you tackle Dracula's castle. You start out on the castle grounds, and if you detour through the toolshed you go through an Evil Dead homage shortcut. You fight through the castle's dining halls and kitchen, and then up a tower where you fight King Kong, who is actually friendly but being controlled by an evil ringmaster. Or you can take the Rocky Horror homage shortcut from the kitchen freezer to a point later in the game. Once you defeat the ringmaster, Kong gives you a lift to the top of another tower, but Dracula observes his transgression and, using his total control over all creatures in his castle, turns Kong to dust in a matter of minutes. On top of the tower you fight a UFO, which crashes into the tower setting it on fire, and you have to make your way down the inside of the burning tower. Then you go through some more stuff, and climb to the top of another tower, where you fight a giant clockwork bat. At the end of the fight, you are riding the bat, and as you defeat him he nosedives into the middle of Dracula's inner courtyard. A split second before you and the bat meet firey doom, you activate the stopwatch, step off the bat mere inches from the ground, walk away, and then walk away while deactivating the stopwatch, and the bat slams into the ground behind you in a ball of beautiful orange action-movie flame.

You climb one more tower for your final fight with Dracula himself. For his final form, Dracula turns into a gigantic demonic bat creature and climbs to the top of the tower. By double-wall-jumping off of his hands as he tries to swipe at you, you can whip him in his face, and depending on what weapon you use to kill him the ending changes slightly. If you use the whip, time freezes at the last whipshot, and all of the Belmonts who have come before you appear in the air, whipping the same spot as you whipped one at a time, and creating (since there are five including you) a pentacle around him that obliterates him and seals away his evil power for another 100 years. If you use the arrows (which you get by beating the stopwatch world), then the last arrow pierces the dense black clouds overhead, letting in a ray of sunlight which quickly grows and overwhelms Dracula, reducing him to dust.

Then there are credits and you're encouraged to play again to see all the other endings and maybe take one of those neat shortcuts.

I have a great idea. Kojima handles the sequel to Beyond Good and Evil. More stealth, and more convolution in the storyline!

in one of the castlevania threads shaper mistyped chi no rondo as chibi no rondo, or something along those lines.

chibi castlevania would be neat. not all pastel colored, i'm thinking something like the way NGPC last blade looks.

edit-- this idea seems cool, though the results might not turn out to be that way. the more i think about it, the less appealing it sounds.

make it canon, just to piss people off.

I want a castlevania where dracula's final form is so giant and awsome that a Belmont has to jump in a spaceship (vicviper?) and chase after him into space.

Thats at the beginning.

they land on the moon and the hero fights through a castle Dracula had built there. When he gets to the top he beats a monster and gains a magical fire suit (like human torch type stuff), and that lets him touch the magic orb that tuns the moon upside down so the castle is on the cold side.

So like instead of everything being normal, the castle is upside down... and frozen in ice.

Also, all the medusa heads have space helmets on and when you hit them the glass shatters and the head explodes sending deadly snakes in all directions.

falling down pits makes you die again too
