NO LIMITS
NO END TO AMBITIONS
BARE YOUR WORLD OF HEART

...

Okay. If you hung around insert credit for a while, you probably saw me make more than a couple threads along these same lines. What I'm asking is, in a way that hopefully isn't quite as clumsy as the last thread I made, is for everyone here to go ahead and post your quietest or craziest ideas for games based on Konami licenses, or using particular Konami developer teams (for any game they've made, past or present), rambling on as much as you like, giving us every single messy detail about what you'd create if you were the head honcho of Konami.

Here are a couple topics from the insert credit forum archives to set the tone/give you some ideas:
Fresh Castlevania Ideas
stammering, babbling games idea topic

I want you guys to throw all inhibitions to the winds as you tell me the games you dream of, that you deeply desire. Let's fill this topic up with paragraphs of fantastic scenarios and crazy proposals. If you read this topic and don't post something then I will know you don't love me anymore, you don't love at all, you're a monster. You don't feel a game.

Anyways.

Post your ideas.

I'll post mine!

The first idea I'm going to post is Black Jack Solid
(or Metal Gear Black Jack or whatever)

I think I originally had this idea after looking at early Metal Gear Solid 3 screenshots for a while. It was kind of freaky when I learned that MGS3 would have the whole "curing yourself" sub-gameplay system....and that Akio Ohtsuka is the Japanese voice of both Black Jack and Solid Snake (and Solidus, and Naked). So I'm convinced that this game is, in part, destined to happen.

Oh yeah, if you don't know what I'm talking about, read the Wikipedia article on the Black Jack I'm talking about. And hunt down some of the manga if you can, it's pretty awesome.

Anyway, the basic premise is this: Black Jack is traveling through a South American country (or anywhere there would be something approaching a mild raiinforest), minding his own business, when he is detained by a group of armed locals who force him to come with them to their nearby village. Once there, he is quickly shown why he was abducted: most of the villagers are suffering from a new, unpredictable disease that is showing a confusingly large variety of symptoms and afflictions.

Motivated more by curiousity than by intimidation, Black Jack begins to try and help the sickest of the afflicted. He's beginning to make progress when the village is suddenly raided by an unknown paramilitary organization which locks down the village and begins to move the healthiest inhabitants to a mysterious military fort nearby, supposedly abandoned for decades. Black Jack is then split between evading the soldiers, trying to cure the sick and finding out what the hell is going on.

It's not exactly the most clever of setups, but it paves the way for a mix of MGS-style sneaking, light physical combat (since you're trying to avoid killing people) and various medical sub-games that would be a bit more realistic than simply selecting what you want to use to cure someone.

One of the major gameplay systems I planned when I first conceived this game, and one that isn't quite as clever in the wake of Half-life 2, was a unique item interactino system that I unfortunately don't have a clever name for. Basically, you could "freeze" the game at any moment (or maybe slow motion, but that's too cliche), and then a cursor would appear on screen. You could then direct this cursor to objects of nearby interest and select different actions to use on them, and when you unfreeze, Black Jack would attempt to interact with the select object in the way you specified (although circumstances might prevent that).

My example scenario was Black Jack in a makeshift lab, with an open doorway leading into another room with a guarding soldier. While you might just normally go up a table full of beakers and such, then press a button to examine it (and look for useful items), you freeze the game once to grab one of the beakers, then freeze it again to direct where to throw it. Then, as the soldier is alerted and comes to investigate the noise, you might direct freeze the game again to direct Black Jack to a wall near the doorway, allowing him to properly ambush the soldier. Of course, ambush usually wouldn't be the only way around the soldier - there would probably be another entrance to the guarded room which you could use to slip into it while the guard is investigating the broken beaker.

There would be a focus on making the item interaction system as fast and painless as possible, allowing for the player to simulate some of the control of one's environment that an actual human being experiences.

Naturally, the game would use a modified version of one of the MGS engines - I'm not quite sure whether that would be MGS3 or MGS4, since I'm kind of stuck in the past. Of course, the game would be at least partially developed by the teams who have worked on previous MGS games, and I might even call in Kojima if I wanted some crazy plot twists or new gameplay subsystems.
