I recently came across a kotaku post which links to a neogaf thread in which the should-be-familiar-to-users-here duckroll says that Silent Hill is "confirmed" as a "new Gun Shooting game" for the arcades. (Though SB user Burp deserves credit for mentioning this before it appeared anywhere else in this thread which I somehow overlooked until now). A few screens have surfaced since then, and... well. Click through to see the horror.

Seeing such an intimate franchise appear in such a gaudy setting feels profoundly wrong -- but on the other hand, this is Silent Hill, a series which is frequently so wrong that it's right, so who knows. This may end up in the "so bad it's good" category.

guys, I hate to tell you this, but strutting around and emptying loads and loads of bullets into monsters and shouting "you like that, bitch??" at sexy zombie nurses and machismo bullshit is how the Silent Hill games are actually MEANT to be played. Those of us who linger and bask in the wonderful foggy mood and immerse ourselves and avoid monsters rather than shooting them up are doing it WRONG.

This game is just an extension of the correct way to play Silent Hill games.
