i think that's the full name. i've been playing it quite a bit this week. i only play with 3 buttons because it's far too hard otherwise (or maybe i'm rubbish). most of the tunes are from 60s/70s/80s anime, with one 90s tune(sailor moon)
if you do well, you get to see little, game boy color rensditions of the show's opening in a little box at the side of the screen.

Is this a gameboy game...? Or what? I'm not sure I understand!

It's a GB version of pop'n music, with a variety of anime tunes in the songlist. They made a bunch of different GB versions of bemani games back in the day, and the beatmania/pop'n music ones turned out pretty good, considering. Here's a video of the Mazinger Z theme, for example. As you can see, it's basically just 5-line pop'n music with controls geared for the Gameboy Color.
