So I looked through my collection the other day and found that I don't actually have any unbeaten Konami games aside from Zomes Ate My Neighbors, which honestly I've not the will power to tackle that game.

What I do have is disc 2 of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Metal Gear 1 lies there, unplayed.

So I started playing it on original difficulty, which is all that I'm willing to accept from myself.

And, this game is impossible. I really thought I was making progress, but now I'm at a point where im running around a hedge maze while guard dogs attack me and SERIOUSLY I CAN'T LINE UP MY BULLETS!

What I'm looking for here is motivation and discussion on the original Metal Gear. Metal Gear 2 also, but really I'm just sticking with one right now. Is anyone else willing to tackle this game with me?

I honestly don't like Metal Gear 1 very much.
If feels like an idea which didn't quite translate into a game.
The stealth gameplay doesn't really feel right, and it doesn't have much of a story.

Metal Gear 2 is great though.
One of my favorite games in the series. Sneaking into bases is awesome. The music is really good, the eviroments are good. Being able to crawl really helps make the stealth feel right. Metal Gear 2 is actually a pretty good game on its own, but it serves as an excellent companion to Metal Gear Solid. The story mostly revolves around Snake's conflict with pre-ninja Grey Fox.

it also has a "look up outside information" puzzle which is more clever than mei-ling's codec number on the metal gear solid box.

Metal Gear 2 would be way better if it had a better method for getting around the 3 major areas of the map. You can transport backwards easily enough, but getting back is a major pain in the ass every time. Also, a lot of the puzzles are insane and terrible, but they also kind of border on absurd genius at the same time. I'm pretty conflicted about it.
