Ok, well, one can only hope you can turn that shit off!

Also, that has to be the least skilled person ever doing the video editing for that video.

The person who made that should never post anything to youtube ever again.

That commentary is worse than the announcer in CvS2.

I bet it will be as bad as the commentary in Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey:

"Robin Hood and his merry men are at it again"... (x 1000 during the course of the game)

And not entertaining like it was in NBA Jam

BOOM SHAKALAKA!

Here is what the English commentators sound like. I hear it's a pretty literal translation of what the Japanese commentary mode sounds like.

It's pretty obvious the guy responsible for the video in the first link was just trying to imitate the "It's over 9000!?" fad.

That commentary seemed pretty badly done. It didn't flow well at all. It needs to be more fast paced, like Iron Chef. It could defintely use more "Fukui-san!"

1. The commentary is optional.

2. Even where commentary is implemented, I don't see where it would affect anyone's gameplay per se unless, say, the losing player took the commentary WAY too seriously to the point of flubbing. (Not exactly easy to take THAT commentary seriously in Japanese OR English...)

3. It's highly generalized stuff for the most part; in terms of the between-match "analysis" it's not much deeper than "so-and-so is overly defensive and getting rocked by player 2's relentless offense, make some more stops dawg amirite?". It can't really discern the subtleties of various people's offenses, defenses, and it certainly can't get into the mind games and true theory-fighter dynamics, but it's still an entertaining and surprisingly authentic replication of overly energetic Japanese commentators. (Yes, I really HAVE heard commentators say "NAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" when someone lands a clutch throw.)

it's the current humor fad on the internet

if i repeat something a lot it's somehow funny guys

anyway, i'm pretty glad the commentary can be turned off. the game looks beautiful, too.

I think it's a 4chan joke, so if you don't think it's funny then you're not considered cool, but if you think it's funny for too long you'll be un-cool.

So, uh, how is VF5, anyway? Are the new characters interesting to play? Did they tone the "swoosh" sound that happened after a lot of the moves? Because that got kind of annoying. I hope the commentary supports many languages, because I'd like to constantly switch between Urdu, Russian and Ebonics between matches. And yeah, it's really pretty. I don't see how people can complain it looks worse than Tekken 5.

It's the worst when they tell you something you just fucked up on; when I was playing I got "no throw escape!" all the time. I love the feature, but I watch a lot of VF match videos and yes, this is really not a bad approximation. Here is the Japanese version:

Oh, and this is a pretty good Aoi video that I'm showing you because I play Aoi:

At least that one was more watchable than the first one.
