that's what I thought at first, and what I dearly tried to hold on to as I examined the picture, but if you examine the water level on his left boot (which also freaked me out at first, because I initially thought it was transparent until I realized he was standing in a very large, shallow pool of water), it seems to be at about the same level as where his boot goes into the "ground" on his other leg.
If I (easily) assume that Wesker is capable of some rather groin-pulling stances (given the gun he has, he's hopefully had it reinforced cybernetically), it's not hard for me to conceive that the combination of his shadow and the water texture is obscuring an otherwise visible foot. |

latest famitsu news slowly trickling into neogaf. as we wait with baited breath on lufia DS (yep), here's two interesting tidbits:
| Code: |
Gyakuten Saiban: Yomigaeru Gyakuten (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney) (Wii)
-December 15
-Wii version of Gyakuten Saiban 1 releasing on Wii Ware for 900 Points
-2 releasing on January 26, and 3 releasing February 23, both for 1200 points
-Additional scenario (5th case) coming on March 16 for 300 points |
wonder if the delay on the 5th scenario (from the DS version) is to retool it so it works on whatever engine the wiiware versions of 1/2/3 are using. Which kind of makes the announcement read as "we just thought this up a week and a half ago and we're rounding up interns"
which is kind of interesting, because I've been (as always) pondering the concept of bringing GBA games to wiiware for a while. Barring the icyrecaps of the world, developers wouldn't piss that many people off with a bit of lazy filtering/upscaling and a few useless extra features (like, you know, multiplayer). And the GBA player doesn't work with the Wii, I'm pretty sure.
I was mainly thinking of this in the context of how to give the Boktai games a second lease on life (still haven't figured out a weather/solar system that would both capture the feel of the original and also work), but was also hoping we might see a digital release of Drill Dozer.
I'm not sure why I was also thinking about Wiiware remakes of the already overpopulous Mega Man Battle Network series. The idea just seems....right somehow. Also I kind of love the games and they are not aging at all.
but the first Battle Network was remade (with lots of Star Force cameos) for DS, so Capcom is apparently not mixing things up there. And Phoenix Wright makes a lot of sense, since it's both a series that people love and it also can pretty much all be done in a (relatively) simple Flash applet anyway.
anyway...
anyway...
| Code: |
No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise (PS3/360)
-More info coming |
oh dear
toto - that's Lost Planet 2. He's currently a Gamestop pre-order bonus, but
knowing Capcom, it could be DLC |

at first that seems ideal. the problem lies in the details:
-the goal of the original game was to get kids out and playing in the sunshine, even if it was a videogame (and of course, I feel this is part of why the fall/winter releases in the US were foolish)
-you could, at first impulse, invert the way the weather day affects the game, so that rainy days mean a sunny Boktai world. however, this would require a rather extensive balancing of what weather causes what virtual behavior. What happens on a day when it's actually too hot to be outside?
-another huge part of the game was that, by moving in and out of shade, you could adjust the solar sensor reading - a higher reading meant you regained energy much quicker (and some abilities are more powerful), but would also cause gun overheating, rot items faster, and cause that annoying solar wind effect (although the only time I can recall that mechanic offhand is the Ygdrasil dungeon in Boktai 3). There are also times when you need no (or a low) solar reading to make a path to a secret appear, and a few other gimmicks that don't immediately come to mind.
-I thought there were some complications involving the clock mechanics, but I forgot what they were. oh well, the above is enough to worry about handling.
I haven't seriously looked at the issue, but in my casual musing on the topic, I've yet to come to any solutions that don't involve altering the weather and/or clock systems. |

I did like LP1 quite a bit. But I agree with Wes about the unfun online play. In fact, that's what makes me not super-hyped about LP2... it seems very very online-focused. I'm sure it will be better implemented online play than the original, but... I just don't think I'm that into the concept, and I'm hoping the 1P side of the game isn't impacted negatively by all this attention they're paying to co-op mode (as Wes called it, "Monster Hunter USA")
I also agree with Boojiboy, it just doesn't feel right for me to play LP1 if it isn't cold outside. |

for those who like to know when there's actual news and have it summarized: the Lufia game commissioned by Square Enix and developed by Neverland is a 3D action-RPG remake of Lufia II for DS, with a dramatic reimagining of the story and world.
Full details where you would expect. First trailer scheduled to hit the 25th. Japanese release in late February. |

No amount of sad faces can convey just how depressed I am right now. I was hoping so badly that that it would make it to the PS3 so I could import it. I really badly want to play it, but I'm not willing to spend $350 for a new console and a single game. But just for good measure, one sad face. :( |

Or even more relevantly, Arika has gone there before with Tetris with Carcaptor Sakura: Eternal Heart.
Supposedly it's just that one mode in TGM4 that is moe. The rest should be the same as ever, albeit with a less manly nature theme. |

It's not really surprising. G.Rev have already released 2 arcade ports to the 360, so it would follow that they'd release any additional ports there. Also, they've demonstrated in the past that they choose a single console when it comes to ports. Last gen it was the DC (Dokidoki Idol Star Seeker, Border Down, Under Defeat), this gen it's the 360 (Senko no Ronde Rev X, Mamoru-kun wa Norowareteshimatta and now Senko no Ronde DUO). It's highly likely that Strania will also receive a 360 port.
I guess there's always waiting to see if a small 3rd party publisher like UFO or Valcom snag the publishing rights. Despite the western release of the first game doing poorly, it at least helped to establish a western fanbase for the game. _________________ "Amidst utter chaos lies strict order."

falcom has apparently announced they are working with unnamed companies to bring their "popular" PSP games to North America. I'm guessing that pretty much rules out Brandish, but hopefully we'll get Ys 7.

I'm glad Atlus is bluntly stating that online services won't be provided in America, and it's nice that the DLC is already on the disc, but couldn't they have asked Chunsoft to put in the fucking extras from the PSP version? |
