APO doesn't mean what it sounds like it means; it's basically just resisting arrest. It's a pathetically easy charge to prove.

It takes place in a kind of post-apocalypse Dubai. Prophetic much? Last I checked Dubai was in pretty deep financial-crisis-mode. Gotta love these games that expand on today's headlines.

I had a friend in junior high that was into realistic military games and I remember him bringing over some PS1 Spec Ops game one day. I don't remember much about them though so they probably weren't anything special.

I do like all the sand in this one though.

Awkward censorship, though. :(

Apparently the big deal about the Reach trailer is that's all in-engine. Which is cool and all, but still.

Yeah I could tell it was in-engine. It's a good engine.

I hope this time it's like a class based squad shooter, like Team Fortress or something but with Halo. That would rock.

The less Bungie has to do with grind-fests like Team Fortress and Modern Warfare, the better.

Speaking of squads, though, my understanding is Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines is going to be progressing along the lines of their Brothers in Arms series, except you'll be able to pick which Marine you're playing as on the fly. Could certainly lead to something.

Killzone 2 did this. But I think it was patched out because people whined that it didn't control like CoD.

it takes about ten minutes of playing with your class of choice to get what you want, and only the pyro absolutely needs the secondary weapon.

it's a stupid set up, but to call the game grindy as a result is ignorant

Wasn't really thinking of "the grind" when I mentioned TF type games but rather that each class is supposed to have its specific advantages/disadvantages and gameplay is based around team based objectives that require a well rounded team etc.

Killzone 2's control patch didn't really do anything. Though they better as fuck make KZ3 have a class with CoD or Halo controls. Jack the Ripper builds in MW2 pretty much redeem the game of any bad qualities.

I feel like this game should be austere, and is instead going to be crammed with bullshit, minigames, stereotypes, missions and everything else under the sun. I hope they get horses right. Hell, that might be the most important part.

ugggghhhhh, treasure chests. "honor"

more instances of a static story of a reformed criminal being coupled with bioware morality.

I wonder if a GPS minimap is one of those "new technologies" of the early 20th century the trailer was talking about. The ones that were killing the Old West.

yeah i think having the little mini map ruins a little bit of what i'd like out of a massive old west game.

still looks pretty fun though.

In any event if it's like previous Rockstar published/developed games you'll be able to turn it off.

But you'll need it to play the game.

It's neither here nor there. I enjoyed GTA4 and I will enjoy this game, probably. I will certainly buy it, because Old West. It's just a waste of a setting. I want my Western games more Blood Meridian and less Young Guns.

Only at first. Eventually you will come to know the lay of the land and where the major towns are, or you could just do without from the start. Which might be more initially difficult but would make all your discoveries that much more satisfying.

guys, that looks fucking rad.

before I even started watching I thought to myself this isn't going to work unless rockstar actually puts any effort at all into the targeting/gunplay system. It looks like they pretty much ripped from Uncharted or MGS4, which is a great thing. I mean, just watching that video it looked fun to play.

*hopefully they let me sit behind cover and press L1 and R1 to independantly draw six shooters, then independantly aim them with the left and right sticks.

*imagining hunkering behind a bar, blasting at targets while glass, wood, and alchohol flies around.
