ODST on release over here was at £25, which was a pleasant surprise. _________________

It looks pretty retro, and I can't honestly tell if that's good or bad at this point. _________________

That it is, but I kind of lost interest after playing the demo because I fully expect the changes to make it to the PC version eventually anyway. _________________

From what I can gather, it's just a dumb meme referring to the character on the Medal of Honour cover art.
Maybe at the very least this means there are hopes for beards still. _________________

Might have been the first time you see them and skippable afterwards. It's been a long, long time and the game never stuck with me in the first place. _________________

Call of Duty wants to go all Marble Madness.
I can't imagine this being immediately worse plot-wise than Modern Warfare 2, mind you. _________________

It has the cutscenes.
Wonder if it also crashes on the 256th level. _________________

Insomniac are going multi-plat, teaming up with EA.
That's both next-gen consoles' star developers going multi-plat now. This should make for very interesting competition.
EDIT: Nevermind, got them confused with Naughty Dog. _________________

Ah, sweet. I was wondering for ages why they didn't apply those retroactively, if only for consistency's sake. Does this include the blood splatter and HUD updates? _________________

| An alleged Obsidian developer wrote: |
There was a ton of work put into this game. The problem is that it was a ton of undirected work, or work on things that were just stupid. The Executive Producer for the game, Chris Parker (also an owner of the company), seemed to think he was the world’s greatest designer ever, and created all these absolutely shitty systems and wouldn’t listen to any of the real designers or devs about things that just didn’t work. And you can’t exactly argue with one of the owners of the company when he doesn’t want to listen. He basically took over the game and dictated exactly how everything would work (or not work, as the case may be). The other producers realized this early on and just gave up, leaving Parker to micromanage all the designers and programmers directly.
Sega also was a factor, because they kept changing the design requirements (yes they had heavy influence there), which never gave the producers and designers time to actually decide on one set of features to make and polish. The blame is still mostly Obsidian’s because the execution was absolutely terrible, and it was obvious 2 years ago that this game should have been scrapped. Instead, though, they focused on adding still more features and never fixed the ones they already had. That is a recipe for tons of bugs and no polish… as is obvious.
This game was just an absolute failure of production, and it’s no wonder that so many of the developers left the company, even after the 40% staff layoffs. I am still happy about some of Obsidian’s other current projects, New Vegas included, because they are going pretty well. Their big unannounced project is looking great and is already much better than AP ever was, and that may end up being the game that everyone was looking for with AP.
Sega should have canceled AP instead of Aliens. |

not true they also did spider-man 3 (lol) and quantum of solace (lol also same engine as cod 4)
Though previews of Black Ops have been fairly interesting so far. It's likely too much to hope seeing something as special as Modern Warfare again, but I could get used to being pleasantly surprised, even by Treyarch.
| Adam Hartley wrote: |
The game is based around the recently unclassified Black Ops conflicts that occurred during the Cold War.
The first of the two levels shown were called ‘WMD’ and are set deep behind enemy lines in the Ural Mountains of the Soviet Union. The mission is set in 1968, and your character ‘Major Thomas’ kicks-off the level by shooting off into the brink of space in a SR71 reconnaissance plane.
It’s a beautifully-paced scene, from the moment you approach the SR71 and are taking in the full glory of one of the most stunning aircrafts ever made, to sitting in the cockpit, looking down the nose of the beast while listening in to radio chatter. Even before take-off , your heart begins to pump a little faster in anticipation that something pretty damn special is about to occur.
And then it does. You pull back on the LS button to lift off, and the noise and accurate modeling of what the g-force feels like to your body and face is genuinely breath-taking. It is a gaming moment to treasure, and one which we will no doubt be showing off to mates when the game releases later this year.
But then, something even better happens. You level out, hovering on the edge of space, and the momentary feeling of peace and calm before the storm, is equally impressive.
Your satellite scan in the SR71 shows your soldiers on the ground in the Urals. You need to cleverly command your squad from the aircraft in order to stop them setting off alarms. Otherwise, they’ll be noticed and quickly eradicated by the approaching enemies in vans and lorries around the compound.
It is a similar scene to the AC-130 gunship in Modern Warfare, and gives you a really cool perspective on the battle that is about to kick off.
Then, all of a sudden, you are in the thick of the action. |

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1 is a third-person shooter where your wand is the stand-in for a gun. Believe it.

[...] Suddenly, a bad guy popped up in the area. Clad in ragged clothes, he looked a bit like a homeless man, but it was explained to me that this was one of the Snatchers, the lowest echelon of Voldemort's evil empire. I whipped out the wand, lined up the reticle on the screen and sent out a couple blasts of Stupefy to level the foe.
There are a number of spells at your disposal in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1 [...] Stupefy is your trusty handgun that can be fired like mad but doesn't do a ton of damage, Crucio is like a submachine as it sprays out dark magic, Expelliarmus needs to charge before going off like a magnum, and Confringo sends out a purple blast in line with that of a rocket launcher. |

Isn't Agent a Sony property too? Couldn't they decide to unveil it regardless of Rockstar's lack of presence?
