R-Type: Flash of the Void.
PSN exclusive, and apparently somehow connected with Home. Unknown whether it's Irem-developed or another outsourced Western job like Dimensions. The HUD reminds me of that crappy Zegapain game on 360.
Two strategy spinoffs and now this? |

Irem would never, ever have put in those horribly tacky menus and that "arcade" screen mode where the game shrinks to a tiny thumbnail and wobbles constantly. |

I think Atlus said they'll at least give it a PSN release, sans the Bitter Chocolate. |

So what was the point of using their spiffy HD RingWide hardware then?
At least I can take solace in the fact that this will be the only new arcade game that places around here might actually buy. |

Eiji Aonuma makes direct reference to flying vehicle in new Wii Zelda, mouth-breathing fanboys go berserk.
He also apologizes for the Water Temple, regretting that you had to navigate the pause menu every time you wanted to switch boots. |

Buying myself a PSP for Christmas. :)
But man, what's with the recent glut of Yuusha Kuse-lookalikes on the system (and one on the PS3)? Whatever happened to games having graphics? Not that the extremely lo-fi, abstracted, early-Famicom variety of pixel art doesn't have its own appeal; but it's starting to seem like an easy way for developers to cash in on retro nostalgia without having to hire talented artists (or just get the player to make the sprites themselves!). |

*yawns*
The protagonist's suit looks a lot less bulky this time, so in turn, I'm expecting the controls to be smoother. Unlike Silent Hill, this is one series that would lose absolutely nothing by getting rid of its sluggish controls. |

The PSP port of Armored Core: Silent Line hits the American PSN on Feb. 4. Mecha Damashii reports that the input lag issues of the AC3 port have been more or less fixed.
These ports should be enough to ease everyone through the series's upcoming transition back to the "ground pounder" style, I think. |

| Damn, sounds like Armored Core 5 is fixing exactly what I thought was wrong about the 4 series (overemphasis on floaty flight controls, the sense of disconnect between your attacks and hitting enemies, too many wide-open desert stages). If they put enough budget and playtesting into it, it could turn out to be one of the best third-person shooters, not just mech games, in a long time. |

Most likely, you'll drag around the cursor with the analog stick instead of the touch screen, which is exactly what happened with GTA: CW's minigames on the PSP. |

Guide to get running
1. Extract the game
2. Copy all the content to a folder in C:
3. When configging in typex_config select no to each option, then bind your keys.
4. Make a new notepad file and enter
typex_loader.exe game.exe
sleep 10
5. Save the text document as a .bat file, look at the images provided to see how to do this.
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/6176/tut1s.jpg
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6995/tut2r.jpg
6. Run the game from that bat file, to access cabinet settings bind the "Test" function in the keymapping (It's right at the end) and then hit it when you're ingame.
Reports of dual monitors causing issues, so disable one of them.
This is confirmed and working on XP and Windows 7, not sure about Vista, if someone could tell me please do!
To fix the terrible 4:3 ratio just go into the cabinet settings and to the screen settings, you'll see the boxes shown are rectangles, you need to change your monitor resolution (If you can), to stretch it down to proportion until those rectangles form perfect squares, then it should look better. |

Finally finished downloading and extracting, but it gives me an "I/O ERROR" upon starting up. (I used BotageL's simpler method of getting it to run.)
Edit: Did some research and used an alternate method, and it works! Too bad my PC immediately regurgitates it at the character select screen. |

| Man, I tried replacing the graphics files with the lo-res pack and it still won't run on this machine. Is there anything else I could do to attempt to get it working on a meager old comp, or am I just going to have to upgrade? I don't care if I have to screw with the resolution or graphics any more. |

No, I have a separate Nvidia GeForce graphics card, but it's an older version that isn't listed by Wikipedia as supported by the Type X2. So it looks like I'm screwed until I get a new card. |

The big "Capcom x Microsoft" announcement was: Monster Hunter coming to the 360!!
...as a port of the PC MMO version.
It still plays more or less the same, though. Right? |

Man, during last gen even moderately not-successful games would hang onto their prices for years if they were reasonably quirky and esoteric. Now you can easily save 40 bones on most full-priced PS360 titles by simply waiting a couple months.
What's going on with the retail market? |

Yeah, come on man! I don't see myself buying a PS3 in the near future due to the cost of system/number of games I'll buy ratio, and I already own a blu-ray player, but saying I DON'T WANT ONE would be juvenile and idiotic. I mean, Demon's Souls and Noby Noby and shit.
It's the curse of vidcon enthusiasm that every system has some stuff worth owning, and it shouldn't be a terribly hard one to accept if you be a reasoned adult. This is Gamefaqs-level stuff. |

Maybe old news, but TROY MUSOU.
It's not being developed by Omega Force! Thank God. Apparently some Euro studio has been enlisted, let's hope they've played Spartan: Total Warrior!
The more detailed these graphics get (though they're obviously in an unfinished state here), the more ridiculous and jarring it is that every enemy of the same type looks identical. |

Nope!
Don't imagine they will, since DQV apparently sold like crap internationally!
I think 108 described VI as "extremely hard and generic," however. |

I wouldn't really have a problem with it (it's not all WHOO ANIME TITS IN YO FACE like Agarest) if not for the presence of the word "lolis."
Are we supposed to accept that as like, legitimate vernacular now? |

Dracko, how was Project: Snowblind? The original Deus Ex 3 that got canned and reworked into its own thing, I mean.

Is this truly Itagaki's Mortal Kombat, or am I getting two separate threads of conversation confused?
Because that could potentially be pretty amazing in execution. |

Dear lord, Monster Hunter with QTEs?! How far are they going to go to dumb this down?
About Cave iPhone stuff: it's ludicrous that the first home port of a new DDP game is going to be on a glorified fucking cellphone. Haven't the arcade-accurate, loving, extras-filled 360 ports been making decent money (and Deathsmiles sold better than expected here)? And they're not even including DonPachi, so fuck 'em.
Though yeah, the iPhone/Pad's where the money is these days, and there's only so far you can go with lavishly packaged and presented retail releases of low-res niche arcade games few people give too much of a shit about. Can't blame them for wanting to expand their market. I just really, really hope it isn't at the expense of their existing fanbase and the games' future 360 ports. |
