games you own but have never played is the theme of this thread!

So, list games here that you own but have never played. Not even just a little bit. If this thread inspires you to play some of them, then come back here and cross them out when you play them! As a completely arbitrary rule, I will say that you can only list games that you have bought; free games that you've downloaded and not gotten around to playing, ROMs, and games you've pirated don't count. You can, however, list games that you've bought used, and games that you've paid to download via Steam or GOG or XBLA or whatever.

I'll kick it off with my own list:

Left 4 Dead (played the demo, liked it enough to buy the full game, never played the full game)
Prey (played the demo, liked it enough to buy the full game, never played the full game)
The Suffering
Grim Grimoire
Operation Darkness
Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007
Clive Barker's Undying
American McGee's Alice
DreamWeb
Machinarium
New Prince of Persia
Senko no Ronde
Resident Evil 4 Wii

OK, that's all I can think of for now, but there are probably more.

You're also welcome to post "you own game X but haven't played it yet? WTF is wrong with you??" and "don't bother with game Y" replies here in response to peoples's lists.

Just one for me:

Resident Evil 5

Haven't been able to find someone to play it with... All my likely candidates played through it with someone else.

I bought Valkyrie Profile 2 at the US launch date, took off the shrink wrap, and never bothered to play it.

Apparently I'm not missing much, though. And I've never gotten around to trying the original, because I don't have a PSP, and PS1 copies of it fetch ridiculous prices nowadays.

I think it's more appropriate to say that you never finish playing Morrowind. Whatever goals you set for yourself you'll never meet, you'll just get close and then you'll start playing some other game and maybe a month later come back to Morrowind and totally forget what the hell you were doing.

Why would someone buy a game and then not play it? I at least try each one out for 5 minutes.

About half my PS2 collection? I've got about 20 unplayed games. The problem is the games are like £2 each with free delivery, but can take up to 10 hours each. Persona 4 could be 40 or 60. I'm saving that for when I get ill and am bed-bound for a couple of days.

I've got a ton of PS3 games too, including:
Aquanauts Holiday (ok, I spent 15 minutes on this)
Railfan Taiwan
Folklore
Disgaea 3

I'm afraid to start Disg 3, since I started the first, played for over 10 hours, and realised I'd not gone anywhere. It's a temporal black hole which eats time. If I start Disg 3 I might put 100 hours in and still not be anywhere. I mean, it could be worse than Morrowind. But I want to finish it before they do another in the series.

Didn't Tim Rogers make a post in a similar topic in a galazy far away a long time ago, saying something like: they'll always be on my shelf so I'll play them when I feel like it?

When I was a kid I'd clock most games 2 or 3 times, since I couldn't afford many. Post-Dreamcast era, with real-life jobs and cheap internet buys, I've got more games but I'm playing them all less.

Do you all get the games this cheap? I'd generally go with 30-60€ per game with a few exceptions.

Oh man, I'm kinda scared to actually find this out. I'm a sucker for clearance games and hype games usually and they have been stacking up over the years.

I'm away on business at the moment so there is no way I could compile a full list from memory, however the ones of recent that I do remember are:

Turok (PS3)
Uncarted: Drakes Fortune (PS3)
Harry Potter HBP (PS3)

Lego Indiana Jones (360)
Bionic Commando (360)
Tenchu Z (360)
Lots of XBLA games on various retail discs
The Outfit (360)

Spore (PC)

And thats just from the top of my head. = ( There are craploads of NES/SNES/64/Xbox/etc games that I've either gotten in bundles or simply accumulated over the years that I havent bothered to dust off and insert into their respective console.

I'll update the list once I get home. This will be a good "come to Jesus" moment for me. = P

You buy movies and then not watch them? For me it's the opposite, I watch them but don't buy them.

I think prices for movies/animes if you buy them are pretty ridiculous. 2 hours basically translate to 30€ ($35) costs. A game can fascinate me usually for 10-30 hours and costs the same and often even less! I still don't understand why movies are sold this expensive, I'd say 5€ would be a more appropriate price (that'd usually still be 30€ for one season).

If anything I go and rent a movie / anime for a day. But then I'll certainly watch it.

yeah, if there's a movie i want to see on dvd for cheap, i'll buy it, but i get bored watching movies alone, so i usually never get round to it.

I can totally see that those two games are worth owning even if you don't play them.

Grim Grimoire so you can be like "Hey I own that game with the awesome and unique graphics that is the prequel to Odin Sphere" and American McGee's Alice to get a bonus when dating suicidal girls.

Oh god, this is actually true.

I dont think Ive ever gotten a game and not immediately put it in the drive for at least 10-20 minutes. But then I buy all of 6 (new to me) games a year.

Army of Two PS3 (owned since release. May never play)
Valkyria Chronicles (owned since April 2009. fully intend to play, high on backlog list)
Yakuza 2 (Owned since early this year, fully intend to play, medium on backlog list)
Stranglehold PC (Owned since holiday 2008, Max Payne-alike sounds cool, probably will never play)

My list is probably 50+ games at this point. I just stockpiled $5 crap whenever it was on sale figuring I'd play it eventually.

Examples of this...
Steambot Chronicles
Samurai Champloo
Mark Echo's Getting Up
Final Fantasy XII
Tales of Vesperia
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner 1 & 2
Shadow Hearts 2 & 3
Xenosaga II & III
Ar Tornelico
etc
etc

As a result I've pretty much stopped buying games entirely. Last game I think I bought was Gears of War II cause I found it at Goodwill for $5. Next game I will buy will be Modern Warfare 2 and then I'm set for another year.

This is pretty shameful. Like Rab Florence says, having unplayed games on a shelf hurts.

Persona 4
SMT 3
Shiren DS (Just started it up, got to the first village, and beat the first ten challenges)
Raw Danger
Ridge Racer (procured at a thrift store last week, it hasn't been sitting unplayed for a decade)
Tales of Phantasia GBA
Spyro: Eternal Night
The Sims 2
PN 03
Lunar Knights
Devil May Cry 1
Odin Sphere
XIII
Iron Storm (for the Saturn, although I'm shocked I don't have the PC FPS of the same title sitting unplayed)
Fatal Fury Collection Vol. 2

I've been at the last couple weeks of P3 forever, awaiting a good block of time to tackle Monad. But most of my gaming time as of late has gone to Left 4 Dead (the vast majority here), Castlevania OoE, retro game compilations, The Club, and whatever 2-player ROMs my friend wants to play.

PS2 and GBA games are both endangered and discount bin-bound right now, so I fear this list will only get longer.
