Christ man, next topic, that's a lot of responsibility. Also I won't even be here this weekend, I'll be with my parents. Though I suppose I could bring the laptop.
I really want to talk about Call of Duty for some reason. (Cuba casting alone) _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

I'd be down for that, since I've been getting caught up in the series. I have time off this week so I could even sneak in Black Ops (ho ho), and I'm sure there are other people here who want to chime in about it. _________________

Seeing as I've played MW2 multiplayer for about 9 days of my life I would need to be in a CoD podcast.
Also booji gave a really great topic which I posted in the topic suggestions thread. _________________ My Hawt Blog Vita Games

Yeah, I'd be in a COD podcast, for sure for sure.
Well, if I could make it (next weekend, maybe?) |

I could maybe do a CoD podcast.
B Coma: Sorry about the Metal Gear cast getting so long. I think I can speak for everyone here and say that your efforts at getting these things listenable is really appreciated a lot. I don't know that there is anything we can do to repay them, but if I think of anything, I will do it.
Also, I think the three hours podcasts (racing and this one) come from us biting off too huge a topic. For Metal Gear, we really could just do a podcast on each individual game of the main MGS series, and then maybe a whole other one on the portable games, or something. I think the series is really rich for discussions, but trying to keep it to three hours was pretty hard. |

| Guys, where does the idea that three hours is long for a podcast come from? I mean, it's not a motion picture where you have to give people a chance to use the restroom. If a discussion is interesting, what's wrong with it being five hours long? I understand that participants might have to go and live their lives, but that's fine; they drop out, and maybe latecomers fill in or things just peter out. |

Regarding the proposed Metal Gear Online vidcast, Ashura and I are working together to figure out how we can get video of SBers playing the game so we can assemble footage on top of which commentary and narration can go.
Our starting point will be the Japanese MGO since it allows a Host or Spectator to ghostwatch any player (and not just the current top scorer which the US version ridiculously limits us to). We're experimenting with things though. I know that Ashura, analogos, Grant (whose slim post count was increased by +1 in the MGS podcast thread), and Schwere have the Japanese version.
Anyone else? _________________

Sure, I guess that it would be even for an experienced editor. But how much time has Coma cumulatively logged doing this? Does the discrete unit of one podcast episode matter? I mean, if the MG podcast went on for five hours, he could have taken two weeks more than normal to put it together.
It's not a big deal to me; I just thought it seemed arbitrary and worried it might have caused you all to cut off the MG cast earlier than you would have. |

| We could spend three hours on each game, honestly, but yes, we did cut it off early, and that was fine. We have plans for more brewing already. |

| Yeah, I know Adilegian, Analogos, and I talked about doing an MGO themed podcast at some point, with a video recording to go along with it if possible. That game has so much good and bad to talk about in it. |

cross-posting this, since I thought about it and it starts to sound like a better idea the longer I think about it:
| boojiboy7 wrote: |

I don't know how many people this Ventrilo thing can support, but I'd say that at least 10+ people dropping by is a must.
Then, each person gets 30 seconds to explain why ___________ is the game of the year 2010, and then it's decide!-time where every 5 minutes or so one game gets dropped, until the last one standing is crowned the GOTY. Obviously, nobody will be happy about it in the end, which will make up the last part of the podcast, discussion! for 15 minutes or so, and ending on a bloody excellent note where everyone has (again) 30 seconds to say something about the final GOTY, no matter whether he wants to or even played it. _________________

While I like the competition format, I also like the idea of everyone just submitting like a 5-10 minute recording lavishing their favorite 2010 game with praise. MAYBE we could do 5 minutes best game, 5 minutes worst game. Either way, that seems to me more humane and gentler and more fun and less... Survivor-y. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Yeah, this is what i was getting at. Hell, maybe even do two like this. One is the LOVECAST (full of games and people loving their own games), the other being the HATECAST (full of hate, I got dibs on Lords of Dogtown) |

nope, we did a Call of Duty thing. I tend to post upcoming recordings both here and in the axe if you ever want to get in on a show though.
Rumbelow you should do it following those guidelines and send it to me! I will get the ball rolling tomorrow and make a call to action thread with these guidelines in the forum axe. (as other people have noted doing it any other way is a technical nightmare)
for now I'll make the official submission deadline Dec. 31st! |

Crosspostin':
Hey y'all, to celebrate the 30th episode I want the next topic to be the platformer genre. I think it would make for a great show, but in this case I don't want to go forward with recording unless I can get sorta-real commitments from people (the last couple of recording sessions have had 8+ sign ups with only a fraction of people attending). Please use something that resembles your handle when signing up, since I'm probably going to cap the sign-ups once we reach a certain amount (somewhere around the critical mass of the ventrilo server). If you haven't participated in a show yet I can help you get set up for recording.
sign ups closed for now, I'll post again if people drop
http://www.doodle.com/v62vvm65429qwtit
What I would like is for anyone who joins to bring whatever insight, anecdotes, or platformer-related nonsense they can to the conversation. I have a feeling we'll spend a lot of time on 2D titles, though I'd like to cover the transition to the third dimension as well. I also want to put a call out to anyone who thinks they want to talk about recent releases like Super Meat Boy/Mario Galaxy 2/DKC Returns and the like.
In addition to all this I also want to know if anyone is interested in submitting individual audio clips for a "Best of 2010" compilation. |
