Yeah, like I said, it is probably something about my office network, which runs through all sort of proxies and such, enough so that sometimes when I am on sites that advertise targeted locations based on like IP or whatever, I am told I am in Dallas/Ft. The program used is Ventrillo and it has chat built into it. All the setup information is in the top post of this thread, over here! There might be a bit of setup time needed to get everything working the way you want so you might want to get started soon before the cast begins in an hour or so.

I'm unfortunately unable to attend the recording today, but I want to ask b coma and others about this MGO vidcast thing. I'm glad to take responsibility for organizing it, providing footage for it, and all of that. Is this something you guys want to put on SB? Do you just host the video through YouTube?

My thoughts on this are not to make it like a Let's Play. Rather, I want to record a representative amount of footage from both MGS4's online and Peace Walker's online, and then record commentary over the pre-recorded footage, after which I (or b coma, or someone) could demux the video, blend the two tracks, and then remux them into a single file.

What length of time is reasonable, do you think? I want to give a nice leisurely amount of time to this, so I'm thinking maybe an hour. I'm aware that I've got more patience for the games than most, so if this is too long, I'd love to hear suggestions.

There are no rules for this kind of thing, putting your idiosyncratic stamp on it and coming up with whatever idea seems best is great. As far as editing the video goes, if you'd like you can send me the raw files and I can render them into Youtube 720p. As for hosting Youtube or another video site is basically the only option because of the limited bandwidth of the podcast server. Or at least it was back when we did that little Demon's Souls romp.

EDIT: DUH I don't need to render them for you you make your own yt vids all the time. Stupid.

OK, awesome. Thanks for that advice, Cuba. I've had to deal with YouTube's compression up until now, and for this I'd like to find out how to get the video file's full 720p resolution up there.

Well... Youtube goes up to 720p/30Hz. So encode at that and that'll get you maximum Youtube quality.

Like, my monitor is only 720p (stupid I know it was reaaaaally cheap), and my yt vids look essentially identical to the games when I play them, except for the lower framerate. They're slightly washed out and fuzzier I suppose but they're really quite close.
