You should eat something that is fat before drinking those vitamin-thingies in order for the vitamin C to be "stored" in your body rather than being lost when you have a slash afterwards.
Alternatively, take a spoonful of olive oil.

at least that's what a teacher told me once. No idea if that helps, but him being a chemistry-teacher, I think I can trust that hint.
