Also, I really... really want to get Izuna. But I just know I'm going to be disapointed and it's going to carry over all the negative points from Chocobo Mystery Dungeon and Nightmare of Druaga. But Nethack Pocket PC isn't cutting it for me in the portable roguelike division, yet Crawl is keeping me very occupied on the PC. GAHHH!!
I don't think it carries over the negative points from those games. I think it makes up new negative points for itself. For example, almost your entire derived ability score comes from your level, and you lose no levels or XP when dying in the dungeon. After having recently died and going through a dungeon again I punched an enemy on the top floor for 315 damage. After that fight I found and equipped a sword with 41 attack points, and I found the same enemy type on the same floor again. This time I hit for 326 damage. I think the game even acknowledges that escaping from a dungeon is barely different from dying in it because I haven't seen escape from dungeon scrolls since my first trek through the second dungeon.
There are no side quests or extra objectives in the game aside from beating the boss of each dungeon. Every enemy in the game is the same level of threat to you except for the tadpoles, which don't bother you at all unless you choose to fight them. The status effects in the game barely make any difference; even the one that removes all your equipment, which would be an almost instantaneous death in most roguelikes, is just a minor temporary ability drain, if even that.
Please, do not buy the game. Hold Atlus USA to a higher level of quality than this. Don't let my reckless spending of $30 go to waste. _________________

Uhh, I think Atlus needs all the sales it can get.
So? I don't own any Atlus stock. I only own Atlus games, and I would prefer to only own good Atlus games.

Outside of the fact that every game they publish has teensy production numbers, I can't figure out how they stay afloat.
That is how they stay afloat: by printing only as many copies of a game as they will sell new, at full price, to their niche market.

And not buying Izuna probably wouldn't send the message that Atlus should not publish swishy rougelikes, but rather that they shouldn't publish Rougelikes at all.
So it's OK for daddy to hit you because next week he might get you a bag of sweets?

Or Disaea which is STILL $50 (At best) 3 years after its release.
No, it's $30 brand new on Atlus's official store _________________
