GAAAAAAAHHHH. The man who decided quick time events were a good idea should be shot, fucked with something sharp, and then thrown into a freezing river.
Basically I missed an event, got killed by the raincoat killer. Which, apparently, activated a glitch where I can no longer access the door that leads to the next area. The "open" instruction just doesn't show up. FUCK. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

| I've never had this happen but you probably need to grab the key for that door again depending on how far back the checkpoint sent you. |

I don't think I'm that fortunate in this case. This is what my situation looks like. I opened a door in Becky Ames' house, saw the raincoat killer down the hallway. Said "Shit, I don't want to have to backtrack if I fuck up a stupid quicktime event". So I turn right around and access the save in the previous room. Run to the end of the hallway, open the door, killer shows up, hide for a bit, fuck up the quicktime event. Fine, run down the hallway and - fucking door won't open. I have three rooms accessible to me and I'm sadly sure that none of them have any key.
Thanks for the help though. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

| huh, well then. I'd offer you a copy of my save, but I imagine the XBL profile bullcrap won't let us do that. I'm just after that part of the game, too. |

| Yeah, what's up with all this bullcrap, not letting you use a save file from a friend or an other profile? I went to a friend to play a little bit Biohazard 5 in Co-Op, but the 360 just gave me the finger. The same on the PS3 with some, fortunately not with all, games. |

If you could trade saves and get some achievements that way then it would completely unbalance the e-peen economy. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

Wait. Does this really work? Let's say, I have this game called Mr. Rocketlauncher has sexual intercourse with Jumper -- they call their child Rocketjump (and will probably get divorced 5 years later): The Game. I take the game and my save file to a friend of mine, copy the file on his PS3, start the game with my file on his profile: does he get all the Trophies I got? |

No, pretty sure it doesn't. On the other hand, if it has an achievement like "Collect all x's" and your save has collected all the x's, then when he fires up the game I'd bet he'd get the achievement. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

I see. Well yeah, I can imagine the eBay auctions: Selling brand new save game for Barbie's Make-up kit. I collected all the lipsticks.
The crowd would go crazy. |

| Well, you missed out. It was like $15 dollars on Amazon a day or two ago, hence it leading the charts. |

When I bought this the other day, the clerk said this was "one of the best games ever."
Pretty excited to start playing this (after I get through Twin Peaks). |

Yes. Every game with a day and night cycle should cycle IN REAL TIME, and only jump forward when you sleep, smoke, or advance the plot, like DP. Well, not every game with a day and night cycle, but most of them. _________________

| A lot of them use accelerated cycles because there's less to do at night and it makes it boring, plus the environment/quests aren't really big/long enough to fill several real time days. Plus the insistance that players get a representative sample of the whole thing in one or two hours. |

That is possible; I have not timed it exactly, but before I realized that you could smoke to speed up time I left the game sitting for about 10 minutes when I was waiting for the "tail Nick" mission to start, and when I came back I think only 10 minutes of in-game time had passed. _________________

guys
what if the ratio of real:game time increased, like, exponentially or something
only slowing down when the speed of time would become obvious (like interacting with other people) |

giant bomb is apparently doing an "endurance run" of this game. two groups of two players.
I'm not exactly sure what that actually means. |

Frank Cifaldi, of Lost Levels fame, glows about Deadly Premonition over at 1up.
As linked to earlier in this thread, Lowtax rants and raves on Deadly Premonition over at his home base, SA.
Similar to how Killer 7 alienated many people, this game seems to be a sort of barometer to tell which journalists out there can focus on enjoying this game's sense of humor, and who can't look past a game's faults to give it an honest chance. I'm trying to be careful not to elevate this game to masterpiece status here because there isn't really a pedigree that I'm familiar with to compare it with to see if this was made intentionally this way or if it is actually a delightful train wreck. |
