I'm not sure I see what was so great about the infinite magnum. I mean, I used it on the final boss, but otherwise I just stuck with the infinite machinegun for the regular goons, the flamethrower for the wall crawlers, and the shotgun for the raincoat killer. And this is on the harder difficulties, too - my most recent save is having beaten the game on Hard. I should go back and re-play it (again) one of these days just to 100% it on Easy again.
Hate the wall-crawlers so damn much, though. _________________

I never wanted to leave. Actually leaving town was one of the hardest parts of the game for me. _________________

I just started playing this. It's weird. And easy. And, uh. . . the victim's name is Anna Graham. _________________

oh, hey, you're right. I thought it was a reference to Annie, Heather Graham's character in Twin Peaks. _________________

There's a character name for every letter of the alphabet. Seriously, look at a list of the cards, sometime.

There are other significant aspects relating to the characters' names and the alphabet, but I won't go into them since they involve spoilers. You should pick up on it once you check out the list of names, after beating the game though. _________________

Could you post what you're talking about in spoiler tags or something? |

I could see that, except it's so EASY to change your weapon. I didn't discover this until chapter 18 or so in my first playthrough, but hitting up and down on the dpad cycles your equipped weapon with whatever other weapons you've got in your inventory. It's one of those features that's never written about anywhere but that, once discovered, makes the game so much easier to play. _________________

Oh, I forgot about the spoiler tags :P sorry.
There are things like how all of the victims of the Raincoat Killer have names at the beginning of the alphabet (Anna, Becky, Carol, Diane), and then the next letter E, for Emily, is of the next victim after them (though her death came from Kaysen specifically). After her is Forrest Kaysen and George Woodman, who are the two major villains of the story, and that's just in the first seven letters of the alphabet. Most of the names in the middle of the alphabet stand for the townspeople, and the last few names in the alphabet relate directly to Francis Morgan. His father Brian Xavier Morgan and mother Valerie (I might be misremembering her name, but I think it began with a V or a W) Morgan, followed by York and Zach, the two personas of the main character. _________________

This is good news :) I figured that if Deadly Premonition came to the PS3 outside Japan, that it would be an enhanced version, since Sony in America has a policy of not allowing late ports to their system without significant gameplay additions. _________________

Beat it the other day.
I like how horrible the other world segments are. No challenge whatsoever, right up until the crawlers come around. Then they become super threatening. Then you figure out how to fight the crawlers (just run past them, turn around, and shoot) and it goes back to being extremely boring with even more boring bits thrown in the middle to shake things up.
I can't imagine what anyone would get out of replaying this game. Or collecting all the cards. The sidequests I guess I can understand, but you can always go back and replay chapters so there's no reason to start fresh to see them all. Same with some of the more obscure cutscenes. But then those are on youtube anyway.
What a terrible, hilarious little game. _________________

I couldn't locate that in the news thread. I'm distressed about that if it's true! Still, I'm pretty pumped to have any excuse to play the game again. _________________

| I pre-ordered it, and should also have it tomorrow. I won't know the difference if there are problems with the port since I've never tried the game before, and I'm sure not going to wait for a patch. |

pretty sure there were both in the original, so i wouldn't hope too high for them to get patched out. |

I don't remember the original having any of these problems, and this version is supposed to have an improved engine, it shouldn't have more issues. _________________

I remember there being sound issues, definitely, and the framerate hiccups were a thing as well.
But yeah "improved engine" is sounding like the opposite of wht is happening here. |

As if the map wasn't hard enough to use already.
Though other than that and title screen music being static-y the first time I turned the game one the problems haven't really been that noticeable for me, but I have an original model ps3 and I've heard it's worse on newer ones. _________________

This is a pretty interesting game. I like how, when you drive around with other people in the car, they don't seem to care when you go in the wrong direction, crash a lot, go through the forest, etc. (all unintentional because driving is tricky).
I haven't played the original for comparison, but I haven't noticed any significant performance problems so far. I have the old-style PS3. Nothing like how in SH3 HD everything slowed to a crawl when you were out on the street (fixed in that final patch). |

Ditto on the performance problems not being anything worse than the original. And the sound problems aren't really that bad or noticeable for me. I also have a first release PS3.
This game gives me the same sort of feeling I got from Disaster Report and Raw Danger as far as how navigating the world feels. I can't really place why.
I'm enjoying my second visit to Greenvale. I'm going to shave in this playthrough and have my suits cleaned on the reg. _________________

If it weren't for the title screen music being messed up and the frame rate in the opening tutorial area being all jacked I wouldn't have noticed anything worse than the original. I'm also replaying all the otherworld areas to get all the cards this time and the opening area had the problems again, so I guess it's just something with that area, everything else has been fine. _________________

| Good to hear not everyone is experiencing the same problems I am—I've got one of the early 250GB slim PS3s, so hardware models seem to play a big part in all of this. I actually didn't have many problems in the title screen or in the opening area but moreso in Greenvale itself and in buildings. Like I said before, it's not unplayable even with that, but I personally can't do it because of the heavy eyestrain the game is giving me. |
