| The instrumentation and initial background chord progression is Andy Griffith esque, but the melody and the complete chord progression including the bridge are definitely from (a slower) Super Mario World's main melody. |

My Xbox DVD drive broke a couple months ago, and this game motivated me to go ahead and buy another Xbox so I could play it. I was going to bite the bullet sooner or later anyway because I needed hdmi, not that this game makes use of the sharper image quality.
I'm having an absolute blast with this game. It doesn't control as bad as I was expecting, and the driving, while clunky and disorienting because of the absolutely terrible map, has grown into being one of my favorite parts of the game because of York's conversations with Zach.
York also uses Zach as an explanation for doing the more video gamey things we want to do, like say there's something important he needs to do at a certain time, but there's some shining item out in the field or some unrelated person you want to meet in a building first. He'll do it, but as he gets out of the car, he'll say "we'll go check it out, Zach, but we really should be at that thing. I hope you know what you're doing."
York says Amazing! and Great! to himself when he makes headshots, as if he wanted the word to pop up like in a video game. |

Frank Cifaldi, of Lost Levels fame, glows about Deadly Premonition over at 1up.
As linked to earlier in this thread, Lowtax rants and raves on Deadly Premonition over at his home base, SA.
Similar to how Killer 7 alienated many people, this game seems to be a sort of barometer to tell which journalists out there can focus on enjoying this game's sense of humor, and who can't look past a game's faults to give it an honest chance. I'm trying to be careful not to elevate this game to masterpiece status here because there isn't really a pedigree that I'm familiar with to compare it with to see if this was made intentionally this way or if it is actually a delightful train wreck. |

There is plot analysis, and there is being civil. Calling someone simple in that sort of tone Cuba had can be easily taken as insulting.
As for endings, we are all entitled to our expectations in fiction, and not everything has to be an analog to real life. I don't think anyone here expects perfect closure in our lives. That doesn't mean a story with decent closure is for simpletons as much as it could just be an escape from reality, much like how many people don't like games that strive to emulate reality for a variety of possible reasons.
From that quote, I think David Mitch recognizes an element of story telling that is often abused, but I think he dismisses the rationale and bigger picture available to any writer. |

I guess the bar exam went pretty well, what with how far you've had your head up your own ass lately |
Pure class. |
Was your short and presumptive comment itself not a jab at Sketch? |

I didn't say this because it would be a stupid thing to say, because it would be

You gotta just spell everything out for some people, I guess. |
Hey, cut it out. This is backwards paranoid reasoning that ignores the order of events and who said what first. Cuba, you've got to be better than this. |

Except you didn't. You made a (fake, stupid) comment about Sketch first, and then Dinghy called you out on it, albeit ad hominem, and you've then blown things out of proportion instead of taking this to PM. Way to go.
Further more, Sketch identified his beef with the series, which could have been achieved if you just asked, as someone who hasn't seen the series, Hey Sketch, What Was Your Problem With The Show? instead of Hey Sketch, You're A Simpleton Dick Who Drinks At Starbucks. |

TXTSWORD please remove the stick up your butt and try to humor other people''s opinions instead of being such a bully. I don't think you don't know him well enough to joke like that. _________________

I imagine this game's appeal lies in its kitch factor, perhaps in the same way people like Troma movies. Few people play this for its primary mechanics, shooting zombies and such. The draw to me was always in the bizarre world you explore, as a bizarre character who has bizarre introspective dialogue. I too found myself disgusted at the things you found issue with toward the end, but I'm not as judgmental towards its themes since that isn't my main draw.
I don't know man. It is a cult favorite, and you aren't being forced to love it. I would love to hear more about your hate. _________________

Sorry TXT, on the surface that seemed uncalled for and out of the blue.
I wanna play MGO sometime, but by schedule is opposite most all other humans who speak my language and I still need to learn the ropes from a friend or something _________________

More like it is a semi obscure game from seven years ago, but this is as good a reminder for me to look for it again at the local used trade shops as any. _________________
