Thanks for the write up. My Japanese is basic, but I've forgotten a lot of kanji over the years through not using them. Is the game kata/hiragana heavy, with lots of furigana (small text above kanji), or is it like trying to read a daily newspaper?

What kinda draws me to this, oddly, is the mundanity of daily rituals. Buying gas for the car, eating lunch at the police station, going to a garage to get the car repaired, shaving and changing clothes. I don't want to struggle to upgrade my car because I couldn't recognise the kanji for kuruma anymore.

I used to play Japanese RPGs and FMV games in the past, but in recent years I've kinda moved away from playing anything not in my own language. Maybe it's time to man up, jump back in the pool and take the risk that a US release is around the corner.

Anyhow, for our latest show - Stage 005 - our main topic of discussion was that wonderful little game Deadly Premonition. As a part of that, Nick contacted the game's director, SWERY, and he was kind enough to do an interview with us over email. Awesome, of course, except for one problem: how do you take a translated email interview and do it right for putting into the podcast?

That is where Nick's mystical powers of persuasion came through once again, as he got one Mr. Jeff Kramer to record SWERY's answers for us. If that name doesn't mean anything to you, you may know him better by the character he voiced: FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan.

whaaaaaaaaaat

edit: the interview starts at 3:16 (three hours and sixteen minutes)

Yeah. Just beat it, but it was probably the least fun combat segment so far. The reward seems like it might've been worth it, though!
Also, it's not nearly as long and tedious as you make it out to be. infinite SMG makes short work of the crowds of shotgun zombies

In an attempt to squeeze more enjoyment out of the game, I started a new game on easy (this should get me another 150 gamerpoints as well!!), but this time, I am going to do the HELL out of some sidequests. Originally the only infinite weapons that I got were the infinite MP5 and the infinite shotgun, but I want more, better infinite guns and maybe an infinite melee weapon or two. Has anyone played this game on hard? is it so much worse than it is on normal? I can imagine the boost to the enemies' health makes the game quite a slog, and the (presumably) reduced attack time on the shotgun zombies would make that task rage inducing.
