That could be nice.
After the TOLL+Gironika+BenRen+Adol+Takashi AWESOME-CAST, we should do that. _________________

man, i can't wait for that one.
is it wrong of me to suggest the next theme should be holiday related? games you got (never got) for presents, holiday themed game stuff (not just xmas but all holidays)? maybe? _________________

I've been thinking about this. I feel like we should just start tasking people (who are willing) to finalize a theme and wrangle together a group. Seems like some of the more successful shows started out this way, as opposed to the spontaneous mishmash of whoever signs up.
Gironika has shown interest in doing such a thing so I am officially calling him out to this thread to make sure we have a theme/people relatively in place for the next show. |
Arrived. Thanks for the heads up!

First things first - this idea sounds like something that really should be done. I thought about it for some days and especially since there is no need to agree on one thing in the end, this might prove to be a nice way of getting a different view on a genre, a company, a game or ... whatever.
I'm going to check now if everyone is still on board and see whether one of the participating users has a theme hed's love to do.

Just in case: people shouldn't end up expecting too much from this, what if it turns out to be mostly harmless? I sense the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal lurking around the corner ... _________________

Would it be useful to move each episode planning discussion to google wave?

Does everyone have an account? I don't want to leave people behind, just because they're not cool enough to get an invite. _________________

I have like 8 invites, but that sounds like it would be harder to coordinate there than it is in our actual forum.
if anyone is interested in an invite anyway let me know. _________________

I also have invites left.
The problem with this forum is that there's one big list of ideas, a bigger thread of general chatter, then nothing else but the feedback threads.
What about another thread for the current weeks show, to get everyone on the same page, what to review or prepare for. Games to play and so on? _________________ Still alive. |

actually there is a thread for this week's upcoming show, and it's living in the axe right now. This is what TMFK suggested early on, and it might be the way to go, from now on. We don't need anything complicated, just one person taking initiative and roping in fellow forum members, and it will work itself out. _________________

Okay, so it's time to get this thing on the road again since the last recording is in limbo until Gironika and co. sort out an ending.
First order of business: if anyone has a theme they mentioned up to this point (like one in the theme thread) or any other topic they are interested in doing, now is the time to speak up. I can either task you with organizing it all or harass other board members via PM on your behalf.
THE OFFICIAL SIGN UP SHEET: CLICK
...
here are some topics from the theme dump I like if someone is interested in pulling together for them (I can't participate this weekend, I will be helping our business move):
spinach
- romhacks of games that are not smb
birdcloud
- special games making episode with guests: everybody on SB who is making a game (take it sleazy, alice, glossolalia, luvcraft, takashi, anyone else with a thread in King of Dev) -- they come on and tell what all that thankless toil be like and what shimmering phantoms drive them on nonetheless
deets
-Randomization in games - Roguelikes and beyond, and that time Richard Garfield said there should be a racing game where your car explodes randomly when taking secret shortcuts
diplo
- "realistic" games that maintain good level design (or how to do so)
- when does back-tracking/exploration work? -- when does it not work?
jack klugman
- games without death
Lasakon
-how fps level design has changed over the years
-games with actual scarcity of resources _________________

People who make games episode would be awesome, obviously I couldn't participate.
I would love to do realistic/sim games, games without death, or FPS level design. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

It helps if you do this for unrelated reasons so you just happen to be awake when bodies/voices are needed.
It will keep you from resenting the podcast you aid. _________________
