Every week is S-E week because I still play FFXI... I'm also working through XIII now. 20ish hours in.
But in honor of this special week, I'll pop DQVII back in and make more progress! I've been playing it since like 2003, a little chunk at a time. One day, before I die, I will finish it! By the way, I would love that game to show up on PSN.
***
ALSO... good a place as any to mention that S-E's "Members" registration program is #1. I have an 8GB iPod Touch, with Final Fantasy I, coming to me just from registering games. Never had anything that nice from a customer marketing program!
To get the "Ultimate Tier" needed for the iPod, you needed 750 points (50 points per game) from the time the program started in Spring 2009 through March 31, 2010. So the year 1 period is now over, any games registered after March 31 count for the next year's prizes. Due to getting some extra points by signing up when the program began, taking a quiz, linking my FFXI account to the new Square-Enix ID... I ended up needing to buy 12 games during the year. Already had 10 (lotsa DS stuff - including the Taito games released in the past year), so I picked up Supreme Commander 2 and the most current FFXI PC all-in-one pack to push me over the top. |

Dug out Einhander. Died in the place I always used to, at the beginning of the fourth stage. Some things never change. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

hey! listen! I've upped an ambitious but crappy Valkyrie Profile Voice Medley-rendition consisting of VP-only soundeffects/voices, since I went ahead and finally recorded a bunch of them for various reasons. _________________

I always thought the water stage in Einhander was a bitch
love ripping weapons off though <3
Dewprism glitchy? are you sure? I don't think I ever died on the jumpy bits, doesn't it just slap you into the start of the room?
Rue and Mint have different stages you know, and some of the characters are more important to one of the characters' plot than the other
I mean, sure the game feels floaty, it's not Devil May Cry, it's on the PSX for chrissakes!
Rue has a better plot, but Mint, as a character, is more fleshed out to play as and the majority of her story is comic relief/NO I'M GONNA BLOW YOU UP (example: Mint immediately renames Rod's Pulsar-Inferno Typhoon Omega, The "Pinto")
You can duel with Rod for expensive coins that you can use to get money. There's almost no remotely as effective way of getting money in the game to buy the super expensive stat uppers (you can grind coins in the last dungeon and newgame+ if you like. that's the noly real alternative, not that grinding stats would be useful for anything other than beating up Rod anyway.)
As you duel rod he starts bringing in bigger and stranger weapons, and getting stronger until the only way to beat him effectively is to use certain ultimate spells mint gains access to later in the game, or to punch up your own attack power so you can still damage him
I always thought the sheer amount of things Mint can do with her magic was nice, you combine like "shot" or "Spread" or "Circle" or "ultimate" with elements like fire and wind, and each one would produce a different spell. They probably could have made the game a good deal longer but chose not to.
Also the music was mostly good I thought? The best track is probably the one played as you explore the forest, that played in the demo that won me over to buying the game almost immediately. There definitely weren't any tracks I hated and a lot of it was pretty memorable |

It looks good, yeah. However, saying that it plays good stretches it a bit, if I may say so. Played it too late as well (it's 2010, after all), so that didn't help either.
Anyway, time to wrap things up! Did you play enough SQEX-games? I for sure had my fair share of them, didn't finish Musashi though and will have to do so in the next few weeks. The opening amv really is the best bit of the game, and unfortunately the first thing you see, so it just can't be anything else than going downhill from there.
Over in the axe I managed to collect a short list of tracks that I've listened to/came to my mind this week, obviously just all SQEX-related though not necessarily the usual fare. I hope.
So ... I had my fun, hope some of you did so as well. _________________
