Apparently cavia has developed more games than I realised. The Resident Evil Chronicles games, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z stuff, Sega Bass Fishing for the Wii, and KORG for the DS. And I totally forgot about Winback 2.

Played a little bit over 2 1/2 hours Nier. I like it. The first hour is kinda boring, like in a Zelda game. Go there, do this, kill this animal, gather some meat. But walking to the first "Dungeon" was great. Seeing the temple from above was a really nice view, also I now can do some magic attacks, like in the Intro. I really like it so far. Had now the opportunity to go check for my daughter or go back to the library, and it seems like I have to go fishing now. Dunno. Hope I will see more of this good looking temples. Yeah, I'm not very far into the game, but I think it will open up now a little. Looking forward to the next hours.

I'm also digging the music so far. It's great. I also love how the singer girl at the village stops singing, when you talk to her, and starts singing again after you quit the conversation.

Nier was one of my favourite games this generation had to offer so far. Sadly cavia have been dissolved by their parent company AQ Interactive. :( At least the staff seems to remain within the company.

So, AQ interactive also owns Artoon, and Artoon made blue dragon with mist walker. Does this mean that tim's prediction of a Cavia Blue Dragon action game is coming closer?

Though I'm no business man but what exactly is the point in absorptions such as these when the people are still there? Is it some kind of structure deal that employees can't move around to different teams when they're needed anywhere else in the company once they're been placed?

My heart seriously sank upon reading this.

Fuck.

Yeah, I know, the staff is still there but that's not the same.

Since tri-Crescendo (of all teams out there)[/url] are credited for the newest DS-Blue Dragon, I wonder whether that'll happen ... series is getting 'round, that's for sure.

And I might have enough money in the future to buy NieR, finally!

I'm seriously bummed out.

Wow.

I mean, I love Cavia so much that when I threw a ton of PS2 games into storage, the handful that I left out included all my Cavia games.

Got all four endings finally. This game is wonderful. I will probably even go back through it and play it again because now that I know everything I'm interested in rewatching some of the previous endings.

What? Why? They had such a bright future in front of them!

This is tragic. Cut down in the very flower of youth.

I saw it for 60 euros just the other day, which means that buying a speedboat to cross the north sea with whenever I wish to cop a slightly obscure videogame would probably be a cost-effective move in the long run.

honestly, just watch it on youtube. You aren't missing anything from the narrative.

I would definitely agree with this. While there's extra cutscenes in the B playthrough the only new stuff in the others are the endings themselves.

It's also not like the game makes much sense. Like, Kaine's rant doesn't actually correspond with Weiss is doing at all.

You are all better off not knowing what was supposedly actually going on.

Well, I watched ending D on Youtube first, and I realise it's not good enough to warrant replaying and subsequent HDD deletion. Then I started watching ending B, and kinda got bored so stopped.

I enjoyed my time with Nier, it reminded me a bit of Panzer Dragoon Saga, but I think I'm done with the game.

I found scans of the guide but not the translations.

Texican Rude wrote:

Really? What I managed to work out from the endings I've seen and documents Weiss receives, makes the game seem like it has the most insane sci-fi story ever devised.

Okay. Please keep those thoughts. I'm warning you don't search out the rest of the information, make whatever story you want to.

Aww man, did you have to add a warning? That only makes me want to do it even more - at worst it will alter my perspective on a $20 game for the worse. It's not like you're warning me to stay out of my parents filing cabinet which holds my adoption papers - because that would be a life altering discovery (I'm not adopted, but surely that's every young child's biggest fear?).

On the other hand abject laziness will probably ensure I don't go googling for it.

SPOILER based on watching ending B:
So basically humanity contracted a plague and, to ensure their survival until it died out, human souls/consciousness were removed from their physical shells (creating shades and replicants which appear as humans), except over time the shades mental state started breaking down. So for every human you meet in the game, there's supposed to be an equivalent shade? The only thing I don't get is, how come the empty shells aren't contracting the plague - or is the black scrawl the plague which originally wiped out humanity?

guys i want to be very clear about this:

there is no nier guidebook. there's only the information told to you within the game. the rest is up to the player to infer.
