| Posting because it seems people never got word about it: There's a Nier demo on the J-XBL Marketplace (and probably the J-PSN as well.) |

I hated the demo, but I'm gonna take everyone's word on the full game being amazing. Even Ninja Blade had a shitty demo that wasn't at all reflective of the real experience.
Is it more imperative that I play this or Bullet Witch first? Because the latter is getting kind of expensive! |

I dunno, I've always seen shootmans and slashmans as being two peas from the same pod, especially when they're from the same company, and NieR's RPG elements seem rather inconsequential.
I imagine Bullet Witch is really short by comparison, though. |

Yeah, I know what they're like, I was just hoping someone could tell me which is the more important to play first, judging by overall quality, the impact of the experience, etc. The demo wasn't long or deep enough to really give me a good idea.
I'll probably just get NieR because it's half as expensive and has Amazon Prime shipping. |

Okay, I guess I'll get NieRrrRrrR and see what all the fuss is about.
Yes Rudie, it seems we've finally entered the era of old, OOP 360 games going up in price! It's not just Atlus PS2 stuff anymore! |

opened my used copy of shinobi PS2 to find it stuffed with condoms (they weren't opened, thankfully)
guy said he was storing them there and forgot to take them out
his item description proclaimed "HELP ME PAY FOR MY SONS COLLEGE" |

| Ah, okay. I guess I'll end up more forgiving of the sub-Zelda combat that plagued the demo, then. |

Glad I waited a little bit to order this, because the 360 version just came down to $12 new on Amazon minutes ago.
I might as well also point out that the game recently got a Platinum Collection/Ultimate Hits reprint in Japan, so I guess it was reasonably successful somewhere! |

I've read a couple of your posts in this thread, and all your points are valid, but then I remembered that I unabashedly loved Deadly Premonition in spite of all its serious problems and annoyances. Even the fetch quests were painless, with Sigourney's hilarious complaining.
I'm somewhat confident that NieR will have a similar effect. I was able to overlook all the bad stuff in DP without making a conscious effort to do so, because the amazingly good script and setting were enough to carry me through the whole experience. |

Twenty hours in four days. I beat this thing (well, I saw ending A.)
It's definitely to Zelda what Deadly Premonition is to Shenmue. And by that I mean it's excellent.
(endgame spoilers) I suppose the reveal that all the Shades are "twisted copies" of humans parallels Drakengard's armies of child soldiers, who you'd been slaughtering the whole time without a care.
Is there a different final boss for some of the endings? The Gamefaqs listing isn't very clear. |

| Huh. Don't think I'm willing to grind for all the weapons, so I'll just Youtube 'em. |

| Are there any weapons hidden in out-of-the-way places that require heavy backtracking? Because I could deal with farming enough stuff to sell for the shop weapons. |

| Do you absolutely have to beat the entire DLC episode in one go? The second door was gone after exiting and reentering the place. |

Finally got around to achieving the B ending.
I had suspected that every mission after the time jump was nothing more than a tragic exercise in futility, but damn, it sure made that painfully clear.
Do the DLC weapons count towards the total needed to access the C/D endings? |

| The Japanese version is known as NieR Gestalt on the 360, and NieR Replicant on the PS3. Gestalt stars a father protecting his daughter, while Replicant is about a brother doing the same for his sister. The games are identical otherwise. Gestalt is the version that the West got on both platforms. |
The DLC is the only way to play as young NieR from Replicant in the Western versions. |
