I've been reading his website now. Somebody needs to write a book about this guy, give him all the royalties, and make him super rich. Then get that somebody to just hug him, every day.

EDIT: Actually, I take it back. He probably couldn't be happier.

I was thinking of sending him a swiss ball so he would have something to sit on that didn't count as a 'chair'.

Platform Masters will not be freeware. The price ranges from $24.95 to $40 for 95% certainty. There is no official price set yet, but given this, it's definitely not free.

Hmmm. That's a bit of a bummer.

Could you explain what you mean by grinding? What is it and why does it cause you to go through so many lives. I've never played this game.

Quote:
Rail grinding - basically, you slide along narrow rails. Quite often, gaps occur. With the night setting causing low contrast, the bad camera that I often can't control at times, and well-hidden gaps, it only makes those types of levels frustrating and extremely annoying. I get a lot of cheap deaths in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle because of it - going through 10 lives in SA2B in the last levels isn't all that unusual (and I always get E for the grade because a death resets the score).

If this isn't good I'll kill a dude.
I've been dreaming for a while of coming to the US and meet uli and maybe film a documentary and it would be 3+ hours and feature plenty of unedited ramblings and such and I have little hope that this movie here is gonna do that. I just hope they won't do like every other American documentary and turn him into a god damn character.
Please don't mess this up, company made up of 2 businessmen and 1 filmmaker. :{

edit: gross entitlement aside, there's nothing particularly objectionable in the trailer and this could turn out pretty good ! ! !

I'm guessing that's 90% of the people paying attention to him. Look at the user reviews for his book, for example.

reading through the comments and stuff it sounds like the filmmakers actually care about him + are trying to ensure he is treated with respect, which gives me hope

Quote:
Rising above an area near Johannesburg, South Africa via space elevators is the Earth Space Base, a base in space above Earth. The foreground has an assortment of rooms. The background has text identifying the space base and the Platform Masters banner. The most distant part of the background is Earth itself with Europe, Africa, and Asia visible. Unlike most games with a space theme and the planet visible, Earth actually moves. It's extremely slow and slight, but it's the most distant game object ever. A few million CU to the right and the movement is noticeable. This world has gravity cut in half making springs and jumping much more effective for height.

I like the sound of this.

Quote:
All scenery within Platform Masters is realistically to scale, as if Platform Masters really was a purely 3D game. Ever wonder what 200 mph is really like, the kinds of speeds that race car drivers experience? What about the speed of sound, roughly 763 mph? Platform Masters will provide this feel. Even distances are realistic. The character, Jeremy, is a typical young adult standing 5 feet, 10.4 inches tall (just over 6 feet with the hair included). Move the character next to a traffic light, a building, train cars, or something else you might be familiar with, and the sense of scale matches what you'd see in the real world.

You may have seen "vast, gorgeous worlds" on the about page. So, just how vast are they? Most 3D games could only dream of the huge expanse of scenery - typically 524,288 CU deep (16 Kbl, 14.564 miles, 23.438 km) and 2,097,152 CU wide (58.254 miles, 93.751 kilometers). Worlds like Keveran Desert and Sentus Mountains have an even greater depth, at 1398101 1/3 CU (42 2/3 Kbl, 38.836 miles, 62.501 kilometers). The Sentus Mountains rise up 147,456 CU above the ground (3 1/2 Kbl, 4.096 miles, 6.592 km). Keep in mind that this is at a resolution of 1 CU per pixel (in a sense - it actually matches that of the layer's scaling). To put this expanse in perspective, the width of the screen where the foreground action takes place is only 1024 CU. The typical late-game, supersize, wide-spanned level may only be 16,384 CU (0.455 mile, 0.732 kilometer) wide, not even 1% of the width and barely 1% of the depth! Most levels only span about 2048 to 6144 CU, significantly smaller (0.1 to 0.3% of the full width).

This game is going to be huge.

Quote:
Unfortunately, the bulk of the details on the story of Platform Masters are classified. There are, however, a few things that I can say at this moment. The first is that it involves a championship. The second is that it revolves around Jeremy, the main character. There are other characters present, though they're minor characters like a sales clerk for example. The third is that the order of the worlds is the order of the places covered by the story. The fourth and final is that it takes place on July 18, 2073, essentially 60 years into the future.

Placing this game in my timeline immediately.
