Pikachu I think what he's saying is is that your reviews are entirely self-serving and are only really there to allow you to throw out a few more reasons why your taste is so much better than anyone else's whilst the limited fanbase of many of these games cheers on. Instead of, you know, telling a bunch of people who otherwise wouldn't know about the game to try it out. So that the companies involved would maybe start to receive enough of a budget to stop molesting the corpse of the Dreamcast.

Not to put words in Mr. Kumar's mouth or anything.

I suppose that says it all, really!

I suppose it does, doesn't it!

Yeah, that's more or less what I am going for. When I write a review of a fighting game, for example, I write it with the hardcore fighting game fan in mind. Everyone else can try to catch up, if they want to. It's not that hard.

This is already happening, to an extent.

For example, some people come to my site to read reviews of EDF 3 and Oneechanbara vorteX (which are fairly mainstream-targeted games, if you think about it) and they see me giving them low scores, and then they scroll down the page and see Culdcept Saga or Espgaluda II (which they've never even heard of before) getting high scores, and they get the message. It's really that simple.

"Why did that Super Nintendo game get a higher score than Crackdown?"

Most of the so-called "Playsation Generation" has never even touched a 2d fighter.

They also tend to think that Gradius III's lack of weapon retention upon death is "mad jewish"

I'm going to blame it on...you know fuck it.

How's Gundam Musou Tim. That shit is interesting from the youtube.

Don't blame aerisdead, rudie. He's just naturally inquisitive, being a journalist and all. I am sure he regrets derailing this thread in such an inconsiderate manner.

On-topic: does anyone know how the game's been selling? It was supposed to make PS3s fly off the shelves or something. And the LE console? Is it sold out?

I find these questions more interesting than talk about the game itself, for some reason. I finally got my copy but I've no desire to play it, and the boring cover art isn't helping either.

Me and Rud13 is tight yo

For example if I was to ask Rud13 a simple question he would be able to understand plain English and and answer me in an intelligent manner

It is surprising that some people are unable to do that!

p.s. Guys threads are made to be derailed

post your Gundam impressions tim it's not like that wouldn't get things back on track quicker than saying "oh, this has been derailed."

Yeah, that's what I've always loved about rudie! His firm understanding of plain English and his intelligent answers to simple questions.

You and me seem to have a lot in common, aerisdead!

Great! I like people who can converse intelligently!

Perhaps we should find out what else we have in common. Do you enjoy a fine cup of well brewed tea, Pikachu? Is Twinings your brand?

(We can discuss that in another thread if you would prefer, of course!)

I imagine one or the other of us would be too confused about being in the other one's time to correctly get to know each other

I find the presupposition in this post hilarious however

I suspect Orwell would consider internet fora a rather horrible waste of time, really.

Wouldn't you?

I think that he'd have agreed with me that forums have their uses.

Also, hey, let's give tim his thread back. We should be trying to get him to post impressions like this more often, you know -- this isn't exactly encouraging him.

Once again, I find the presupposition utterly hilarious.

Wonderful!

Anyway, as I said - threads are for derailing. People shouldn't need encouragement to continue what they're saying in them - they should just say them. I trust Tim will, obviously. Cats away, etc. etc.

You presupposed that he would find internet foras (I assume you meant forums) horrible first. So...are you just trying to be a dick?

And I for one oppose the derailing of threads, especially when they're not in the Axe.

Sadly though, I've got nothing to contribute to the Gundam Musou discussion, making me a hypocrite.

I think the presuppositions that aerisdead is finding amusing are that Pikachu seems to presuppose that Orwell agrees with him, which is kind of funny.

I really want to play this game, just because I like beating up lots of things and being a robot.

Whoops, I didn't read enough of the context to see that Icy said that Orwell wouldn't like Aeris, and Aeris's later comments were a reflection of this. My apologies, turns out I'm the dick here.

I'm not sure how much credit you personally are willing to give Media Creates (or NeoGAF reporting what Media Creates says), but it apparently had shipped 170k by the fourth of March. I'm hardly a good judge of such matters, but that seems pretty good for a half-week's sales.

yeah, it was a champagne-cork-popper over here.

the first game to actually sell worth a damn on the PS3.

maybe they'll get some . . . better games soon.

mannn . . . if only they would announce something like MONSTER KINGDOM . . . man, that would really be big, right about now . . . . . . yeah, it sure would be

T-T!!
