update: i do not have to go to jury duty. i will now dragon quest myself into sweet oblivion. it is weird how the series that is the MOST "jrpg" is also the most tolerable jrpg. Making every piece of armor and equipment visible on your dudes is the best thing since numbers-go-up. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

yeah that has been my solution. i'm kind of getting into it now and haven't even felt the desire to go back to fight that particular beast. the little status update the malaprop fairy gives you commented on how i was rushing through everything for awhile, now she says i'm taking my time... so i think i am finally starting to play the game correctly. there is SO MUCH to do
also gladiator is so good, i should have unlocked this way earlier! the stat bonuses are quite beneficial even if you are focusing on another class. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

i think i kind of turned against this game... i was expecting it to go on a lot longer, then i was suddenly at what was obviously the last dungeon and had to turn it off. are there enemies in the higher level grottoes that are actually difficult enough to require insane leveling, or does the whole game just get easy after lvl. 40? maybe i should just dig up my ps2 and find dq8 somewhere.... _________________ The text will not live forever. i'm kind of disappointed in the grottoes right now--the enemies seem underpowered and the bosses overpowered. I guess the best thing to do is fight through the grotto with underleveled classes, then switch right before you get to the boss? Do all bosses get stronger the more times you beat them, or only ones in later grottoes? Also, will I get a new map every time I beat a boss? It has happened twice on the same boss... weird. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |

that's so fascinating! the grottoes are like a completely different game. i still haven't beaten the final boss yet... is this also the only DQ game where you don't get the ability to fly around the map freely until after you 'finish' the game? Another really bizarre and kind of cool choice. _________________ The text will not live forever. The cup are small |
