I almost bought this the other day. Then I remembered that I still haven't played 4 or 5 because I'm waiting for 6 to complete the trilogy, and I'm much more interested in those. If I want to play 9, I should just rebuy 8 and actually finish it this time around. I realize this is all fascinating to everyone else; I'm kind of wondering if there's any real reason for me to get this. I live in a shitty minor city, and there are lots of college students, but I seriously doubt my DS would ever pick up someone else's with a copy of this game. The sense that I should play while it's current was the motivation that came closest to defeating my stinginess, but I don't think it's realistic.
And stop badmouthing Etrian Odyssey within my earshot. |
You should probably at least pick up 5 before 6 comes out. Seems like they produced a lot fewer copies of it then they did 4. _________________ 3DS Friendcode: 2337-3480-4823

There's some really sad parts in this game.
The doll that came to life and assumed the persona of her deceased owner. _________________ 3DS Friendcode: 2337-3480-4823

the game stopped being an action RPG not too long after it was announced and people went nuts (in the bad way).
just beat the boss after reaching Alltrades Abbey. so i'm sure i'll find out when i turn the DS on again, but how does switching vocations work in this game? do you keep prior skills etc., or is it like starting from square 1? if the latter, what's the purpose? |
Class skills and bonuses transfer to every other class. Not sure if you can use weapon skills with other types of weapons. But if you switch to another class that can use that same weapon you can still use them or if you put 100 pts into a weapon skill you can use that weapon type with any other class. Spells arent transferred between classes. |
If you "master" a weapon(max it out w/ 100 skill points) then any class the character switches to can use it. Also applies to shields. _________________ 3DS Friendcode: 2337-3480-4823
